Also, does the Focus fork not require a crown race?
I’m not sure but I hope not as mine also came with the FSA bearing and I just dropped it onto the bottom tapered part of the fork and the gap between the bottom of the head tube and the top of the fork is too big (compared to my other bikes) rather than not enough or rubbing. So if I add a CR I would have a huge gap....

yes, no crown race required. gap is little bigger on mine as well. similar to my (ex) super six evo. ridley helium,f.e., has a very small gap, especially in combination with 3t rigida ltd fork.

What's the thing with the geometry tables of the Izalco Max Disc?

I'm 180 cm, and from the reach, size 54 looks good. But the stack.. Isn't 537 very low, even for a racing?

It's interesting to look at the steps from S/M/L/XL

Size - Stack - Reach
52 - 521 - 383
54 - 537 (+16) - 390 (+7)
56 - 565 (+28) - 398 (+8)
58 - 583 (+16) - 406 (+8)

Such a big step in stack between M and L compared to other sizes.

I'm considering moving to L, and rather compensate by a 100mm stem if the reach becomes a problem.

(Why are noone putting out stem length, handlebar width etc in the geometry tables?)

Any experiences with size? 54 or 56?

Thanks for confirming RP. Have the alloy version of the FSA’s currently on order, you know “a few more grams”

I'm 178cm, 76.5cm saddle height from BB and ride a 56 Izalco Max disc with 10mm of spacers and a 90mm stem.

I was also worried about the much lower stack of the 54.

My other bike is a medium canyon aeroad 551mm stack and 397mm reach. For some reason I find the Izalco reach much longer (maybe the hydraulic shifters?)

The 56 Izalco came with a 110mm stem and 42cm bars.

I ride a 56cm disc brake

78.5cm saddle height
10mm spacer
42 c-c bars
120mm stem... every so often I feel like a change and use my 130mm stem

Mine came with a 100mm stem

I have ridden a 54cm BMC TMR which felt too small
And a 56cm Scott Foil which I felt good

For the sake of context I'm fast approaching 50... don't experience discomfort when racing for 5 hours 160kms...well not that's caused by bike fit.

Not sure if this helps you at all...

Great updates!

I just measured my current bike.

Sitting at 77 cm saddle height.

Stack is 555, with 15 mm spacers (and the headset thing)
Reach 381, with 110 mm stem. I'm currently looking for a cheap 120mm to try our, as I find it a bit short.

The Izalco 56 is 565/398., so should be quite spot on with a 100 mm stem.

Love these bikes! What kind of tire clearance do the Izalco Max non-disc frames offer? Are 25mm the limit on modern rims?

The frames are incredible value for money, if you ask me.

For rougher terrain, I'm running 25mm Panaracers on Fulcrum Racing 5 LGs.
They come out to about 27mm wide actual, and I wouldn't be too comfortable fitting anything bigger on the front. The rear has a little more clearance.

....if you know the right source(s).;-)

nice build. a clean and simple antithesis to those blown-up aero bikes, which are "en vogue" at the moment (at least on boards like this, in real life hardly anybody in my environment is riding an aero bike :noidea: ).
which saddle is it?
tks, greetings

@Reedplayer
The saddle is a Fabric Scoop Shallow Team

I'm really liking how the Izalco Max rides.
So much so that I'm considering buying a Mares for dirt/foul weather/winter..!
