My daily - not very light
Very nice! How did you go about sanding the logos and decals off the frame (I assume it's a Planet X frame)? I am thinking about doing the same thing, but wonder if it's not too much trouble to be worth it...

Love the sanded Campy crank, shifters and RD! And the no-label frame.

Try some paint thinner or acetone on the front derailleur?

Planet X on the fork and logos still on the bar should be next to go!
Yes agree with a fork, not sure what to do though. The glossy UD 3T bar looks well so i might also laquer the fork when sanded or spray the outsides gloss black over nude carbon for a bit of extra bling

Frame is made by Walty in China / fully custom with internal cables and tapered head tube. Circa 1500g with 34.8mm ST/TT and 40mm DT and pencil seat stays.

Considering building up another one soon with eTap.

Its quite time consuming but looks good when finished. The UD carbon on the crank because of its layup looks amazing when the light shines on it.

Also if you are not planning to re laquer it (mine is just raw carbon) you need to be careful not to nick the carbon or scratch any of the resin. I used a razor blade to scrape down the layers until you hit the hard carbon then used 400 to flat it down and worked up to around 800 grit with soapy water.

I wouldnt fancy doing a frame or full fork put it that way, although the cranks are a little complex so more time consuming. A fork you would be able to rip a lot of laquer off in each razor blade pass.

How were your experiences with the builder? What was the general cost of the frame, if you don't mind me asking?

I dealt with Amy who is great. I paid a little less as i was living in China, probably came to around 900 USD. Fully custom, internal routing, bigger headtube and some oversized tubing bumped the price a bit. Walty make for all kinds of western brands along with supplying the internal market.

Thanks Eurperg, I dig it even more now

Any specific meaning to all the motifs/graphic on your frame? I assume it's a custom build, to your specification, right?

Cheers

^The graphics come from the graphic identity of our cycling club. 1928 is the year it was started, and the mermaid comes from the coat of arms of our region. Gold and blue are also the colors from the coat of arms and also the colors of our club. On the left fork leg there is the logo of the club but it can't be seen from the pics. The symbol on the bottom "hannunvaakuna" is a old Finnish symbol of luck / protection against bad luck, a symbol that people used to carve on their belongings, the oldest examples are from skis that are 1000 years old... We have a batch of Festkas with our club graphics, this is one of those.
