I decided to take my old Madone off the trainer, and out of retirement. I previously had this bike down the 7.3kg, but once I got my Madone 9, I just built it up and kind of forgot about it. Recently, I decided to go back through, clean it, and see what I could do with it. Turns out, I've got it at 7.55kg, without even trying. Current specs are as follows:

Frame: 2013 Trek Madone 5 (H2 geometry), 60cm
Wheels, tires & tubes: Bontrager RXL w/ DT Swiss 36T star ratchet, Bontrager R3 (700x25c) tires w/ Vittoria latex tubes
Crank: Ultegra 6800, 175mm, 52x36 w/ Stages Gen 3 PM
FD: Ultegra 6800
RD: Ultegra 6800 GS
Cables: Jagwire (not sure if Elite or something lower level, it's been a while since I installed it)
Cassette: DA9000 (11-28)
Chain: Shimano CN701
Brakes: DA9000
Shifters: Ultegra 6800
Pedals: Ultegra 6700 Carbon
Saddle: Bontrager Affinity RXL Carbon
Seatpost: Emonda SLR
Stem: Bontrager XXX 120mm
Handlebar: Some cheap Bontrager alloy bar (44cm)... going to have to replace this soon

I've already started contemplating some changes to the bike, namely going with a Kalloy Uno stem, and maybe a 3T ergonova pro bar (to keep with the alloy theme, since this is also my travel bike).

My first Trek and my first foray into Di2 (which is brilliant).

60km on Sunday’s “shakedown ride” almost all in the drops saw an average 4kph increase on my usual times. Its brilliant ! I love the design features such as the battery and Di2 controls hidden in the down tube, and the 'vector wings' for the front brake. Its very nearly a wire free zone. As a Colnago fan (Ihave a few....) this is a bit different :D

oh, and it has black pedals on now !!

Very nice. Just a heads up, switching from the Bontrager Elite skewers to the Zipp aero skewers will net you an 80g weight loss. If you're in the US, Competitive has them on sale.

Very nice! I love that color scheme. Why did you decide on rim brake, rather than disc (that's what I would have chosen, but everyone has their reasons)?

Try to be quick with explanation.

Just prior to sorting out bike I was given a great deal on some XXX tubs for my Emonda.

I wouldn’t normally have tubs but I use them on supported trips in the alps. These tubs and the Emonda use rim brakes.

Having both bikes on rim brakes made more sense for swapping wheels when necessary.

If I was riding an aero road bike, that would be it. Clean!

Real-time air pressure.

Got for use with my tubs but they have more useful than I thought with normal wheels. Twice I have had warning of slow punctures in rear tyre way before feeling them.

Both times had already used up canisters on previous punctures so headed home ASAP. Saved over £50 in taxi fares.
