We'll see.. I have to keep in mind, that the rear hub is designed with 16 drive and 8 non-driveside spokes, therefore I need a rim with centered spoke holes, where the holes are not designated for either left or right side..

DT-R460 does not have this feature, as far as I know . Kinlin has..

I have a question ....

I've bought a gravel bike that has disc brakes. The wheelset is:

Alex Black Dragon 24, Deep Section, Disk Specific Road, 32 Hole Rear and 28 Front, Reflective 3M decals rims on a Alloy, Double Sealed Cartridge Bearing Hub, 28 Hole front hub & Alloy, Double Sealed Cartridge Bearing Hub, 32 Hole rear hub

I will be getting new wheels soon, and I will buy the rims and rear hub and front Son Dynamo hub and get my LBS to build them with decent spokes (The guy is one of the best wheelbuilders in the UK)

so, my question:

I'm looking at HED Belgium Plus rims (I already have a set (clinchers) on my Giant TCR and am well pleased) .... Do I need to get disc specific rims or can I use normal rims?

Disc wheels with a brake track would look a bit odd IMO.

My question: for Dura Ace hubs and HED Belgium Plus rims, is 24H front and rear OK for a 70-75 kg rider or is 24H/28H a more sensible choice?

24F/28R always the wieght saving for a 24H rear is too small to warrant it. stiffer wheels are better wheels. 28H even with thin CX-rays is more than stiff enough to keep spoke fatigue at bay.

Dim. for a dynamo hub you'll need 32 spoke wheels as frankly the 48mm centre flange to centre flange spacing on the Son28 hub is poor - a rear disc brake hub has 54mm spacing. Also to retain some semblance of lateral wheel stiffnes for the front you'll need spaim race/force or the DT Swiss equivelents (other brands would works so long as the butted section is 1.8mm diameter). drop the spoke count or use thinner spokes and the front wheel would flex a bit too much in the bends not to mention being a pain to build and get right.

The HED disc brake rim looks like a disc brake rim so no problem there.

HI again wheelbuilders,
Been along time since I've built some wheels.
I have to re mount a Shimano C75 front wheel that has "dead cones", with either a WI H11 or DT240S.
I'm wondering if I need bigger nipples to fit in the Shimano rim (noticed the original Shimano nipples are bigger) ?
How aboout spokes ? Sapim CX would do the trick ?
Thanks for the info guys :beerchug:

cant you replace the cones? you'll need to get a bunch of shimano nipples to rebuild.

That's what I told my friend to try first.
The bike shop where he works aren't helpful (read competent).
I searched the net for DA 9000 front axle and cones but no luck ... :noidea:

Just got a set of Far Sports Carbon wheels (but they sent me Tubular rims instead of the Clincher I ordered) so they have sent the Clincher rims for me to build myself, it has Sapim SILS nipples, does anyone know what colour/size Sapim spoke key I need to get?
