Thanks for the response. While looking at complete wheelsets, notice some brands put Aerolites or something lighter on the NDS and stronger spokes on the DS. So I guess it is common.
vejnemojnen wrote: ↑Sat Nov 03, 2018 12:03 pmof course. Few years ago I've bought online a 2nd hand wheelset, which was with cx rays, though 6 spokes were "changed" to 2mm plain gauge ones. My friend had a dozen dt aerolite in exactly the perfect length, so I replaced the 6 plain gauge with aerolites.vanmatthew wrote: ↑Thu Oct 25, 2018 11:13 pmProbably a stupid question. Can you mix DT Swiss Aerolites and Sapim CX-Ray in a wheel build? I have 14 Aerolites left over but there's a pretty good deal for individual Sapix CX-Rays right now. I don't want to buy a new box of Aerolites or pay the extra cost for individual spokes. I need 20.
noticed no detrimental effect. In fact, those two spokes can be mixed, without ruining the looks of the wheelset.

By the way, is there anyone, who is familiar with R13 powerway hubs?
I could not find conclusive data on flange dimensions-diametres-distances..
I have this drawing, but it is contradictory of the description of ebay-aliexpress sellers:
what are the measurements? I'd lace them with Borg31T rims, 20 front, 24 rear spokes, 2crosses everywhere (I like the looks better this way..) te Rims, Borg has 580mm ERD.
I've calculated spoke lengths:
-286.4mm front
-282.1 mm rear NDS, 277.6 mm rear DS
would it suffice?

re-calculated with data from other sources.
front: 286.4 mm (2cross)
rear: 282.1 and 277.3 mm (2-2 cross, NDS-DS)
data was from Bitex website, the hubs look very similar (and I might end up with buying Bitex, those seem more of a quality..)
the rear hub dimensions are pretty similar, the front hub has PCD of 31mm.

Looking for some advice here.
Building up a disc road bike. I have two 50mm deep x 29mm wide rims en route, with 539mm ERD. Front hub will be a 24h DT Swiss 350 CL 12x100mm (undecided on straight pull vs. classic) and rear will is a DT Swiss 240 CL, 142x12mm, classic, 32h.
Additional information: I'm 64-65kg depending on time of year. Pro MTB racer, and I'll be doing some local training crits and maybe the odd road race. Live at 6200ft/1900m, and it only goes up from there. Regularly ride at 10,000ft/3000m or above. Might see some very light gravel use, but this bike will mostly see pavement. The pavement is pretty good around here.
So, a couple of questions.
1) I understand that a straight pull hub is limited to 3x lacing. Is there any pro or con to using this on a disc brake road bike?
2) Are straight pull spokes fairly ubiquitous these days? Do most shops carry them, in case I need a spare, quickly? I build all of my own wheels, but travel to ride regularly.
3) Is there any reason to go 2x vs. 3x on the front or rear, aside from a very slightl reduction in spoke length (and thus, weight)?
4) Is there any reason to go 2x (or 3x) on one side and not the other on either wheel?
Some numbers from DT Swiss's Spoke Calculator:
350 SP/CL, 24h, 3x + 240 C/CL, 32h, 3x/3x = 266/268/263/261 1534g
350 SP/CL, 24h, 3x + 240 C/CL, 32h, 2x/2x = 266/268/255/253 1530g
350 C/CL, 24h, 3x/3x + 240 C/CL, 32h, 3x/3x = 270/272/263/261 1541g
350 C/CL, 24h, 2x/2x + 240 C/CL, 32h, 2x/2x = 259/260/255/253 1533g

The only pro really is a slightly (very slightly) stronger wheel because of the more even spoke tensions and the only con is slightly increased weight.
In my experience most shops don't carry sp spokes. I've started carrying a box of plain gauge sp spokes so I can get people out of a pickle but otherwise it's just not economical to carry sp spokes in a selection of lengths

The 24h hub is 2x laced. Actually it's a fractional crossing for spoke length calculation but the DT Swiss website is going to give you the right lengths.
Stick with j bend. Simply no point in straight pull for these hubs.

from the description of dt swiss alloy nipples:
"Attention! Do not use on rims without reinforced nipple holes."
so? What do they mean by this? They'd require the washers ? Or what kind of reinforcement?

Thank you. I will probably use brass nipples, I've never had problem with those. I don't mind those extra grams either.
and as I know, the spoke bed on the Borg31 rims is pretty strong-thick. (Hence they don't feature eyelets, so I presume the spoke bed is properly made B) )
I guess 14mm should be good enough from nipples. I can get longer if needed.

I still use washers as it allows higher tension without spoke hole distortion. Without washers you are limited to 1200N with Sapim HM washers you can push the tensions past 1400N ds without a rim cracking in service.

sounds great, I'll probably look around where can I get them. Or DT swiss washers fine as well?
Would you recommend them for the front wheel as well, or rear only? Did you lace wheels without them for customers?

One question though. I don't know whether 20 spoke front wheel with DT Revolution spokes would be good enough or shall i opt for DT competition? On the rear nds I'd definitely pick competition
