*bump*

Is there a post-ride review of these wheels? How good/bad are they?
Where are the strengths?
Weaknesses?

Notice any flexing? How is the hub?

etc:..

I'm eager to know this as well.. seems like an interesting rim.

Yeah-its a quite a bit deeper section than most alloy rims (24 to 30mm) and isnt too awfully heavy. Could be the aero/alloy leader?!?!? I'd liek to have them for training/training races and races in downpour coniditons and cross on muddy days. And the price is right.

I find it strange that the Soul 3.0 wheels are 20f/24r while the Soul 4.0 wheels are 24f/24r. I thought that the heavier and higher rims should allow for at the most, 20 front spokes, maybe even lower.

Love my Shamals. The total number of spokes on the silver pair is less than the number of rear spokes on some rear wheels :D

I'm planning to buy s2.0 too. Manufacturs said that s2.0 wheelset is currently not available and I should wait for a month.

Any post-ride review of wheels yet? How do they compare to am classic CR350?

Would anyone like to chime in if they think the S3.0's http://www.bikesoul.com/s3.html qualify as being deep enough to provide an aero benefit over say a boxed tubular or a CSC/DT RR1.1 alum rim?

The depth is 30mm. Thats getting close to the shallower deep sections out there, but of course at 1/5 to 1/7th the price.

To me this looks like Cho-sen hubs I am almost 100% sure.
Also the text that is advertised by Soul has similarities with the text at the Cho-sen website.

If you look at the Cho-sen website you find the same only with a different brand name….

Rims look a lot like KinLin but Ruff saya that KinLin says that these are not KinLin…

I would not buy these and prefer to build a pair of KinLin light rims on nicer hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes….

@Rayhuang
From 30mm up and deeper you got a noticeable aero advantage.

But for instance a 19mm deep rim drilled for internal nipples (like a KinLin Nb-R) will be less deep but will have aero advantage that is on par because of the internal nipples.

DT RR 1.1 rims are not very aero and have normal nipples The 30mm V shape of the rim SOUL uses will ad a little aero advantage but it will be tiny! Use the right spokes (Sapim CX-Ray or DT Aerolite) and a low spoke count in the front wheel that will ad more to aerodynamics.

Amadeus-I am talking to one of the team owners here sponsored by Zipp and I might get a set of older and of course used zipp 404's!! Keeping my fingers crossed. Clinchers.

If I did go with Souls I would opt for the S4 whihc is like the IRC niobiums deep rims.

Thanks as always for the info.

Rayhuang, just to set the record straight, the Soul S4.0 rims are not the Niobiums. The Niobiums are 30mm high - see the Soul S3.0 wheelset. The S4.0s are 41mm clincher rims.

I was intrigued by a real deep dish alu rim and decided to order a pair of the S4.0s. The price is scary low, so we will see about the quality. Other posts on these wheels showed the S4.0s to be very near the claimed weight and well below the Gipiemmes. The Souls should be here in a few weeks. More later.

Can anyone tell me if the 4.0 rims require rim tape? If yes, can one use Veloplugs?

I'm really interested in the 41mm deep S4 rim. Where do they come from? Other than Alex and kinlin what are the options?? I'm sure neither of those two do a 41mm rim.

The 30mm S3 rim sure seems like a Nb30, but kinlin do a 19mm rim not a 22mm on the S2.
