Removing FFWD decals
Moderator: robbosmans
So I picked up this FFWD F4R tubular wheelset for a good price, but really want to get rid of the decals. They're under a layer of clearcoat. I think I can get the decals themselves off with acetone, but I'm stuck on the clearcoat. I guess wet sanding? In that case, which grit should I go for? Thanks in advance.
Good luck, and arm yourself with patience.
I had FFWD wheels a few years ago and was also a fan of "no decals" wheels, but once I had them in hand, it was clear to me I wouldn't even try to remove that thick clear coat layer.

Try some Effetto Mariposa 'carogna remover'. It takes the decals off of Campag & Fulcrum rims.
Paste it on to cover the decal, leave it 45mins+, then scrape.
