I'm looking at the enves website and their "INCIDENTAL DAMAGE PROTECTION PROGRAM" has been updated 8 days ago. No mention of enve for life or what it used to write before. If they dont address this I probably wont be buying new rims from enve. The price you pay and is too high not to get much coverage post purchase.
They made the manufacturing cheeper by going hookless and put the price up, on top of that they also changed the warranty and incidental damage program.
Also can a wheel optimised for 29c tyres be more earo than a wheel optimised for 25c tyres? for example their new 3.4 vs the previous gen 3.4

i can understand the price increase, inflation is up, carbon needs to be imported from japan (price increase of 20% in the last 2 years or so), labor costs are also going up, so i can understand that. What i cant understand is why they remove one of the msp of buying a pair of Enve, the lifetime incident protection.

They come with new rims but it’s disappointing they don’t go beyond. The zipp/enve/roval do well in developing their aero shapes but leave aside the mechanical aspect of a complete wheel, rely on classic steel spokes over classic hub geometry. It’s obviously a lot easier to “only” work on a shape than on the mechanical aspect of a complete wheel that is very difficult to market.

Carbon spokes for example, can be a significant step change when properly used and totally ignored here.
petromyzon wrote:I looked up the weight differences. 3.4 have lost ~15g per rim, 4.5 nearly 30g.
Has anyone who put their hands on the rims weighted them?

4.5AR are everyday gravel wheels
5.6 were my everyday aerobike wheels (sold them)
6.7 will be everyday aerobike wheels.
…currently have the 4.5AR's on my Cervelo Caledonia-5, but now going to move to the 6.7's as my everyday wheel. And I couldn't help but pull the trigger on a pair of 2.3's for climbing the local Bay Area hills.
You’re jumping all the way to 6.7’s? I suppose the new 4.5’s are similar to the 4.5AR (but being slightly lighter).

I have a 5.6 and the 4.5AR so if anything, keep the AR’s and maybe get a set of 6.7.
thats what I did.

Besides my 5.6 I got second hand many years ago. Now all my enve's am I the original owner.

Look pretty cool, I guess. I'm surprised they didn't cut more weight out of the 3.4. Zipp is pretty darn low on weight at 1250 grams for the 353. Regardless, I really love my 3.4 wheels with Chris King hubs. Fanstasic wheels.
Referring to PCW 6560's wavy profile, https://www.velonews.com/gear/road-gear ... -d-wheels/ says
...not only provide aerodynamic and crosswind stability benefits but also provide structural benefits by creating an ‘arch support’ beneath each spoke. Carbon fiber performs very well under tension and not so well under compression. The sinusoidal profile places carbon fibers under tension around each spoke which allows us to optimize the carbon layup and remove excess carbon from the area between the spokes.
I guess Zipp, while suing PCW, applies the same principle to reduce 353/454 weights. It might be hard to get such low rim weights with normal round profiles.
Yeah, I don't know. My expertise on that area is limited. The Princeton wheels also look pretty rad. With their new hubs, they are also very light weight.

well Tmanley is @ 1510 with XDR.. so I think it's inline. I know they state 1499 or whatever, but everything I've seen is 10-15g overweight so far including all these 2.3.

Maybe the measure without decals :noidea:
