Identical rims (dimensions), spokes and hubs, so can only assume they've used a different (heavier) grade of carbon, or increased wall thickness (lower internal rim volume).

The weight of the Alpinist CLX remains the same. 1250 g (NEW) vs 1248 g (OLD).
Yeah, I'm sticking with my tubeless Alpinist CL as well. But it will be interesting to see what marketing BS they come up with.

I wouldn't be so sure it's comparing apples to apples with the Alpinist2.

It states LFD hub which I assume is similar to the Terra CLX AFD hub (essentially a rebranded DT180EXP with slightly different hub shell).

Goes for the Rapide2 also, Sinc ceramic bearings are akin to the DT180 hub, so an upgrade from the 240S hubs used currently.

Upgraded hubs, yet the Rapide are around 100g heavier, while the Alpinsit are only marginally heavier?
Pretty upsetting.
I'll likely still get the new Rapide front wheel, since I just crushed mine, and the Rapide is the goat wheel!

New Turbo not-Cotton will be most interesting to me really!

on IG, Specialized was toughting a key date of 5.10... I suspect that is when they are doing some product launches (or re-launches).

i am so torn/annoyed here; i really want to go tubeless on my 2 month old alpinist CLXs... torn between taking the risk running the current ones tubeless or wasting a ton of time/money buying the new ones and selling the old ones.

i was hoping they'd just be the exact same rim but with a new set of recommended/certified tubeless tires. the weight differences seem to say no.

Didn't the rear rapide get more spokes? I was under the impression that moved from 21 to 24 spokes. Besides, more rim to be reinforced when compared to the alpinist. I guess they went over the same exact process/problem Hunt went when their initially launched their 34-35mm wide wheels.

So it seems like just a switch to tubeless and no rim shape changes?

The problem with the old versions was that the carbon was compressing from tight tubeless beads, especially after inflation. They reinforced the rim bed on the Alpinist CLX and may have gotten rid of the hollow bead hook design of the Rapide CLX front rim.

Who says it was a problem? I know of zero wheels with spoke tension shift from running tubeless setups.

And the Rapide II rims are identical to the first gen, in section anyway.
