i decided i'd had enough of the always delaminating and oft-flatting turbo cottons on my aethos, so i switched to the alpinist CLX II with GP 5000 S TR in 30mm. the ride is SO MUCH SMOOTHER, it's insane. feels almost like a different bike, in a good way. no need to bunnyhop the steel plates over the expansion joints on the golden gate bridge!
it does feel a bit "heavier" although there's no way i could feel the actual change in weight, so my guess is that's the increased rotational mass of the new heavier hoop with the lighter hub. the 26mm turbo cotton was a claimed 240g, plus 40 (tubolito) to 120g (actual weight of the last ones i used!) for tubes. the 30mm gp5000 s tr is 292g, plus perhaps 25g of sealant. so 280-360 vs around 320 per wheel for the rubber, unlikely i could really tell any difference.
