Interesting, I guess the Zipp rim walls are only 2mm thick. ENVE's are closer to 3mm.

I do, and agreed it is a surprising number, but the walls are quite thin and that seems to contribute to the low overall weight (and poor durability reported by some)TobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 7:25 amJackofallgrades wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 5:21 pmI think you're mistaking those wheelsets for the 303/353s, 404 and 454 are 27.8mm external width for sure (just checked my sanity with my own set!).
Do you have the 2021 hookless version? 27.8mm is the same number as the previous model launched years ago. A 23mm internal width coupled with ~3mm thick straight-sides is already 29mm wide at the "brake track" and on most rims that's not the widest point.

This is a combo I'm considering, do you feel the cornering feel is diminished at all with the stretched out carcass? That's my only concern

Changed the Zipps once again and added the Roval CLX64
Too early to tell... I just did one short ride on my new 454 and there were no serious descents. If https://www.giant-bicycles.com/global/h ... technology is trusty, my hunch is that 25c tire on 23mm internal would corner better than on narrower rims.Jackofallgrades wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:05 amThis is a combo I'm considering, do you feel the cornering feel is diminished at all with the stretched out carcass? My WR50 Flyweight on CarbonTi are 1350 grams. I struggle to see the advantage in going deeper outside of certain race situations (which no longer apply to me).

I upgraded from WR50 to WR65 on my TCR. Using the same set of tyres I am now hitting higher average speeds on my local fast-flowing 7km descent with similar average wattage, so I have experienced the advantage of going deeper. At 80kg rider weight, I have experienced no downside to the extra depth as far as crosswind handling goes.
Any difference in the rims you can find considering the pro VS non-pro series?emotive wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 3:20 amI upgraded from WR50 to WR65 on my TCR. Aestheticlly. when the sunlight hits the blacktec rims (WR50) you can see the gold hue in the fibers (as you do in some Zipp wheels) which you don’t get with the WR65.Aesch wrote: Any difference in the rims you can find considering the pro VS non-pro series?
I have 12000km on the WR50 and 5000km on the WR65. I can’t see or feel a difference in build quality or performance at normal speeds. It’s only when looking at stats on regularly ridden segments that I can see a difference in top speed and average speed.

These will definitely not fall onto the lightweight side of the spectrum, but they are in stock and can be purchased for around $1,100 shipped, which may add to the attractiveness for some.

When I bought the WR50 the WR65 was not yet available. But if the WR65 was available then, I still would not have ordered them as I would have considered them too deep for everyday riding. After riding the WR50 for a year and knowing they were fine in windy conditions the WR65 was announced. I ordered again worried they may be too deep. Knowing what I know now I would skip straight to WR65.

Currently in the market for wheels of this depth as well. My current top 3 are the Bontrager RSL62 (1530g), ZIPP 454 NSW (1390g), and Princeton CW Wake 6560 (<1500g).
The Bontrager are by far the widest externally at over 32mm. My only qualm with them is that I'd be using them on a Specialized.
The ZIPP is by far the lightest, and also the shallowest. Tour tested them around 2W slower than the bontrager. Probably that's all the difference there is in these wheels. Hookless means the least options in regards to tires, but 5kSTR would be fine for me.
For the Wake I'd choose the new Strada version (20.5 internal, 28mm external). It's by far the most "conservative" wheel in terms of width, but I hope it still performs with 28c tires.
Do you have any experience with these or recommendations?
