- (now discontinued) Bontrager Aeolus XXX 4 TLR, 47 mm, 21/27 mm wide, approx. 1400 g for the wheelset

I've been looking for similar rims for some time (not a high priority for me though) and will probably settle for some Chinese (Farsports, Carbonbeam etc.) 21/28 mm ones depending on the lightest ones available when I decide to go ahead with the purchase.
My Bontrager Aeolus XXX 4 TLR's came in today. 1396 grams for the set with rim tape installed. 620g for the front and 776g for the rear. They fit perfectly with my ee brakes. I'll be mounting tires soon.

***Update - I took the rim tape off and the wheels weigh 602g for the front and 756g for the rear with an 11 speed Shimano/SRAM free hub. That's 1358g for the pair which is 42g under their advertised weight!!!

I have a few questions trying to set the Bontrager Aeolus TLR XXX 4 wheels up tubeless. It's my first time ever trying to run tubeless so I may be asking stupid questions.

The problem is whomever installed the rim tape on the rear wheel has gotten it off center in a section of wheel leaving four spoke holes that aren't perfectly sealed. Obviously I need to fix that before I can install my tires.

The wheels originally came with Bontrager TLR Rim Strip, but I don't think that is what the original owner installed. It appears to be a plasticky tape - not the electrical tape looking plastic rim tape I've seen in the past, nor like the cloth Velox tape I've used before with tubes, but a tape that sort of looked like the plastic bands companies use in shipping. I assume from looking at it that it is tubeless rim tape.

What is the best way to fix this? I took a picture of the valve stem which is where the end of the tape appears to be. Can I unpeel the tape here and reposition it? Do I need to just buy new rim tape and re-install? Any other tips or tricks that I can use without going to the bike shop that is 45 minutes away?

Thanks!

I just discovered that what is on the wheels is Bontrager High Pressure Rim Tape but is not tubeless compatable, so it looks like a trip to the LBS. Should I use the Bontrager TLR Strip that they recomend or rim tape? The TLR stip seems nice but they also show it as 50g per wheel, and I'm not sure what regular tubeless rim tape weighs but it has to be a lot less than 50g per wheel.

****Edit - I took the Bontrager High Pressure Rim tape off and it weighed 19g per wheel.

I usually use 3M 8992 that I can have cut to a custom width.
I've got also a Dutch WheelWorks superlight TL tape on one wheelset. It's some black stuff that's probably sold under different names around the world.

You can use a 3rd party TL tape, no need to stick with Bontrager. With some solid ones you may be ok with just 1 layer, but usually 2 layers are recommended.
Some people recommend the Bontrager strip, but if you want to save some weight that isn't going to be the best option.

If you want to spend more time on it, you may check the following threads (and there are definitely some more):
