Would it be safe to run 28 mm Vittoria Corsa tubulars on Lightweight Gen 3 rims? The rims are quite narrow.

The problem is that the rim channel is deep and shaped for a 23mm tire, at least on the Gipfelsturm and Ventoux. So, getting a 28mm tire fully seated in the rim channel is a problem. Some say it's fine but I'm not keen on a tire not making full contact all the way around.

So the curvature of the rim bed is too high, meaning that a 28 mm tire will make contact at the edges of the rim bed, but not necessarily at the center of the rim bed?

25mm is OK (based on my experience with Gipfelsturms) but anything beyond that runs into the radium mis-match problem highlighted by RyanH.
