Hi all,
new to this forum, and I have a question re. DT Swiss hubs.
I built a wheelset last month using DT Swiss 350 classic (j-bent) hubs 142x12 with 6 bolt disc brakes. I only later found out that these are more intended for MTB use than for road use (whereas I have a road bike), when I tried to mount my shimano 11-speed road cassettes, which did not fit on the hub. Here I discovered having made a mistake... :)
But I was able to buy a DT Swiss Shimano 11 spd Road Body which is apparently 1.7 mm wider than the 10/11 spd MTB body. So I was able to mount the cassettes on the wheel, but when mounting the wheel I found out that the cassette is now too close to the frame. The lockring of the cassette is sort of rubbing against the bike frame. So I think I need to replace the endcaps as well.

Now DT Swiss is offering:
- HWGXXX0006333S - conversion kit, however I read somewhere that it is for use with the straightpull hubs only, where mine is j-bent
- HWGXXX0003525S - conversion kit, but these are apparently intended for the centerlock hubs, whereas I have 6bolt hubs

My questions would be:
1) Is the replacing of one of the endcaps the solution for this issue? And should I then replace the right side (drivetrain) endcap or also the left side endcap?
2) Do you think that any of the two conversion kits would fit my 350 hub? If I read the specs than they are both not suitable, but then what?

I have been looking at a lot of different conversion tables etc online, but it makes it even more confusing.
Hope that some of you have some recommendations.
Thanks!
Frank

There are road and MTB versions of the 350 hubs.

Contact DT Swiss tech support. They will quickly explain what is possible and how. They will ask for frame dimensions so make sure you know the drop out spacing of the frame you want to put these hubs in before contacting them.

Call or email the center for your region.

I don't think you can fix this by changing to other stock adaptors
you can try to use DIY offset adaptors, then you will have to fix brake caliper offset and re-dish wheel

It make sense to buy new hub + sell old hub + rebuild with same spokes,
looks like you cannot avoid redishing/rebuilding in any scenario (with or without changing hubs)

Another option to consider - you can use semi-road 11-34T cassettes that are compatible with 10s hubs:
11-13-15-17-19-21-23-25-27-30-34 - Shimano CS-HG800-11 (ICSHG8001111134), Shimano CS-HG700-11 (ICSHG7001111134)
11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-28-34 - SunRace CSRX1 EAV 11-34T, SunRace CSRS3 EAV 11-34T
11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-28-34 - MicroShift CS-H110 11-34T

If an 11s freehub made your cassette touch the frame it sounds like you have the wrong spacer sleeve between hub/freehub. How about a picture without the cassette?

If dt have mtb specific endcaps, to adjust the chainline, then the wheel will need to be redished after changing them to road.

Ensure there isn't a spacer between the cassette and freehub.

(I don't have much experience with dt hubs so I write IF)

It'll work. You just need to buy the driveside end cap for 12x142 hub with '11 speed road' written on it.

Such as this.
https://r2-bike.com/DT-SWISS-End-Cap-ri ... u-Maxle142

It will increase the width of your hub by 1.7mm which means your wheel will be 0.85mm out of dish. You will just need to redish it.

When 11 speed road first came out this was very common. Everyone upgraded their 10 speed freehub bodies to 11 speed, the hub got a little wider and wheels needed to be slightly redished. Frames open 1.7mm without a problem.

Thanks for your replies. I will order the 11 speed endcap.
I experimented a little with further spacing the hub by adding a 2 mm lock ring between the end cap and the frame. This does the trick. So if the 11 speed road endcap is indeed 1.7 mm longer then it will be fine.
Thanks for all your replies, will let you know whether this is solved an a few days time.
cheers

11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-28-34 - MicroShift CS-H110 11-34T
Have you tried both above mentioned 11-34T Sunrace and Microshift cassettes on 10spd hub yourself?

As far as Sunrace cassettes there are reports stating that 11-36T (CSRX1) works fine on a 10spd hub, but I haven't been able to find any confirmation of the same regarding 11-34T cassettes... other than your statement here.

As far as Microshift, their current catalog https://microshift.com/wp-content/uploa ... 001003.pdf (page 24) states that, among others, the CS-H110 11-34T (11spd road cassette) is "Not compatible with Standard HG Freehub", where 'Standard HG Freehub' refers to 10spd MTB Freehub with 'freehub body length 34.90 mm'.

Thanks for any reply.
