I don’t think any of the Rene Herse tires have painted sidewalls.

They obviously do because they come in three different colored sidewalls???

52 pages is little too much to check.

Has someone measured real width of 32c on rim with internal diameter around 23 mm?

Just had what looks like a material defect on my 5000S TR tire after ~4000km.

What is the remaining tread looking like? I was expecting reduced mileage due to the significant weight reduction. The TL did 6.500km last year, after which they really where "done".

It's not unusual. It's a thin spot in the tread. I just tossed out a tire that got a small cut that was plugged with a Dynaplug. I took the tire off and was going to patch the cut from the inside. Then I found a small bald spot unrelated to the cut, one that looks just like yours. The tire has already worn down past the TWI so I've already gotten my money's worth. I decided it's not worth it to put more miles on a tire with a small bald spot. Hence I tossed the tire in the bin.

Is your tire already worn past the TWI? If so then I wouldn't necessarily call it a 'defect'.

Looks similar wear to an area on a tire that I had to lock up...thus, wearing out one area more than the surrounding center track. It was that or T-bone a car that pulled out in front of me and decided to stay there...right in front of me. Either go or get out of the way!

Just checked and it's indeed worn past the TWI. It's the back tire obviously but i'm still surprised/disappointed with the lifespan of these tires. Got more out mileage out of turbo cottons i used before.
These were supposed to be a good compromise of speed and durability or so i thought. :noidea:

Edit: Can't recall a single lock up on these tires. Front tire looks decent still.

Yup. The old TL outlasts the S TR by a factor of two. It's a way for Conti to sell more tires.

I mean, I got 3700mi out of a 25mm GP5K S TR. I don't think I would get 7400mi out of a GP5K TL.

3,700 miles only as a rear tire? On the front my tires last for years if I don't rotate them.

Rear tire. My GP5K TLs always had sidewall tears and never lasted 3700mi. The only rear tire I’ve had that lasted longer was a Corsa Control 30mm and that’s cheating because the contact patch is greater.

What is the consensus re tyre wear of TL vs TR?
https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.co ... 00-tl-2018
The centre tread thickness is
2.3mm TR
2.8mm TL
I would assume the TL should do more kms

Edit; I guess the loss of the butyl layer inside the tyre could account for some/much of that half a mm.

Conti would sell more if availability was better. Image

Yeah. At such a ridiculous price. Doesn't make one optimistic the tyre is ever hoing to be priced like a bicycle tyre rather than a car tyre.

You keep saying that. If you don't like it buy a cheaper tire.
