New batch number:
So the inside of the tyre looks different again in this new type ... kind of a hybrid of the two previously seen archetypes.

Has anyone yet managed to glean from Conti what properties these are likely to reflect? It seems like they released a beta product.

Exactly what I thought.

Has V1 central tread and V2 sidewalls. Guess a hybrid AKA V3.

Should i worry about this sidewall or just keep riding?
Less than 1000km in, 25C running tubeless ~5.5bar.

I would be very unhappy with that on any tyre.
Let alone one as ridiculously expensive as as 5k s tr.

How much do you weigh? I have 3000km on my 25mm GP5K S TR tires and the sidewalls look pristine.

I weight ~70kg, tires are mounted on 21mm internal width wheels. I recently went through some gravels sections on under construction road so I think sidewall was scratched by sharp rock.

25mm tire on a 21mm rim is really pushing it. The sidewalls become vertical and are unprotected from road hazards. I used to run 28mm on 21mm rims and get sidewall damage. Now with 32mm the sidewalls are pristine.

25mm on 21mm IW rim is really good spot to be at for road but not gravel.
It is well within 2022 ETRTO fitting guide (limit 23mm IW as max for 25mm tire). I run 25mm tire on 23mm internal for 2 years already. And they are good, way better than 25mm tire on 17mm I had years ago. But I can't say it's any better than 25mm tire on 21mm IW rim (that I also had).

However, not every tires are made to work with wide rim.
Regular GP5000 25c is good for 23mm IW rim. But 5000TR 25c run smaller than non tubeless 25c version, it end up being a little small and vulnerable to stone/rock. If you need to ride gravel then go 28c size, or Vittoria Corsa Control 25c which has really wide tread for its size.

I bought another 3 S-TR in size 28c. These have build date stickers of 0222, so presumably Feb of this year. Weights were 267, 270 and 273 g, so about the same as the pair I bought with 0921 build codes. I don't have the wheels built yet to mount these on, so I can't comment as to whether this batch holds air any better (my first two lose about 5 psi per day). The inside texture on the new tires looks the same as the older batch.

I found them in stock at Lordgun at the end of March...might have just got lucky.

I'm using Orange Seal. 60 ml initial fill and 30 ml every month since January.
