What tire is the STR? Roadside repair (i.e. the actual ability to make one) capable tire is high on my tubeless list. The pro one tle is easier than the old gp500 tl (on a Fulcrum speed 40 db).bobones wrote: ↑Wed Nov 10, 2021 6:55 pmThe STRs are pretty damned tight when new too, but this time around I managed with one of these. The main thing for me is that the STRs loosen up considerably after initial mounting, and I can reinstall them without any tools, which can matter for on the road repairs.

I have only one set of wheels the TLs mount on.bobones wrote:I thought the TLs were nigh on impossible to install and sent them back. Prime rr50 v3.
I have read multiple reports of them being difficult to fit.
They just aren't on my wheels.
They go on by hand.
Seat with a std track pump too.
Pretty disappointed they are discontinued tbh.

50+k km on GP4kkode54 wrote:I ran both tubed and tubeless (TL)...still had more punctures than previous versions of Contis. I'm hoping the 5000S TR will be my next tire.
Only about 10k km on 5kTL.
Never had to stop and repair a puncture on the TLs.
As I said, the 2 bits of wire in the rear TL would have been 2 punctures and a stop and replace the tube on the 4k.
Running latex sealant in the tyre is a huge advantage over just a tube and the tyre seems to have a strong carcass.
Received a pair of 28mm brown wall. No in use feedback as they'll wait for a new road wheel set, and will most likely run 28mm front and 30mm rear.
Aesthetically, they look hideous. If you're hoping for something that looks like a normal tan / gum / butterscotch wall tyre, you're out of luck. The thinly painted narrow band of brown ink / paint looks really cheap and nasty.

Shall get the scales out and weigh this lot.

That's disappointing regarding the color. I like the tan sidewall color of the Schwalbe Pro Ones....its more darker/warm brownish tan than some of the others.RDY wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 11:06 amReceived a pair of 28mm brown wall. Weighed 2 of the 20 I have in. Both coming in under manufacturers claimed weight (250g / 25c).
Compared to the tan 25s, they're about 30g less across the two tyres.

Wow. That's nice. I wonder why the tan wall is heavier. It makes no sense.
The back of your 25s look a bit different from the back of my 32s. I don't have a honeycomb-like pattern as seen in your pic. Do you mind posting a pic of the back? Did Conti just changed something to make it lighter?
I'm very impressed with the S TRs. I have bought a bunch of the old TLs just before the S TRs announcement. I'm selling my new TLs at a loss because I want to run the S TRs from this point forward.

The exact setup I'm planning to run. If you have a calipers, would you mind measuring your mounted width and let us know what pressure you're running. Thanks!Aryeh wrote:My pair of 28mm transparent tires ...
They definitely were not easy to mount on my Light Bicycle WR50 rims but not terribly difficult either. I could've used a 3rd hand.

Slowly coming into stock at German retailers and coming down from initial recommended retail price of 79€.
Example: in stock at bike24 for 69,90€
https://www.bike24.de/p1530145.html
I'll wait for spring though... can already see me going through the whole tubeless setup ritual.
Only to forget about the roadbike for a couple of months and return to two flat tires with dried out sealant at the bottom

Just fitted a pair of 25s to Zipp 454s (B1) and did all by hand. Really impressive for a Conti!
