based on my experience with a 28 TL on a 24mm internal rim... I'd guess 33mm give or take 1mm. My 28 TL measured 30.5 on a 24. I'm trying to find a 30 S TR but not having much luck yet.

So... apart from weight, dimensions and installation: what do folks think of these in real life usage, particularly after putting on some miles? How is air retention? How is the ride/feel (vs previous GP5000 TL or clincher)? Any puncture experiences worth noting?

Nothing negative to note except for slightly less air retention. I’m using less sealant than before (30ml vs 60ml) so it may not be entirely the tire’s fault. The TL loses 2psi a day vs about 4psi that I’m seeing now.

I dropped my pressure by 3psi (55 to 52) and it’s still fast by feeling. The ride quality is superb at 55psi but now at 52psi I’m in heaven. I feel like this tire really excels at rough pavements when run at a low pressure. If you’re currently on the TLs and planning to get the S TR I suggest upsizing to a larger size. With the S TR there isn’t a huge weight penalty with the larger sizes.

One notable positive that hasn’t been mentioned thus far is the lack of strings forming by the tire bead. This is a problem on the TLs (but strangely not on the non-TLs). I’ll keep an eye on this as I accumulate more miles.

Has anyone tested the 25c or 28c on a Giant SLR 1 with 19 mm inner rim width (23 mm outer width)? I am trying to determine what size these will be when mounted. Thanks!

I don't see why not, we used to run MTB tires on 17mm rims not terribly long ago. It's no longer concidered optimal, but it's not going to be unsafe.

What size would you guys advice for a road bike, rider weight 70kg, Tarmac SL7? I'm in doubt between the 25mm or 28mm and no idea what could make me chose for one or the other.

What's the width of your wheels? That would probably decide for me. I even have one bike that I run a 25mm in the front and a 28mm in the rear.

I think it's about whether you value comfort, or speed and how bad your roads are.

On a Grand Tour stage winning bike like the SL7 25mm tyres will be more 'racy', but 28mm may be more comfortable if that's what you need.

I am in the 25 on the front (aero with my rims), and 28 on the back (easier to add compliance by tire choice than by frame design; and aero doesn't matter as much on rear wheel).
