Had a 2" wood screw go straight into the rim bed on my rear wheel. Managed to unscrew the screw, throw a boot around a new tube and rode home but gotta figure out how to repair this.

Upon inspecting when I got home, entry wound doesn't look too bad....can feel lots of loose fibres on back side of hole. No cracks or other visible damage around hole observed. Wheel is still true.

Anyone have experience with this type of repair? Initial thoughts are:
  • Fill hole with thin epoxy to grab onto loose fibres
  • Strip of carbon/carbon tow across damaged area and neighboring spoke hole, redrill spoke hole?
  • Try and jam some carbon tow into hole as epoxy is curing?

I would mix up some chopped carbon fibre and epoxy and fill the hole, leave it slightly proud and sand flush.
