Merlin currently has some Paves in at 30mm. Never ran those, the old 27's were my favourite ever though. (I can't remember what size it said on the label...but they were 27!)

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I had a similiar question. The Enve 4.5 ARs I have are tubular, and are optimized for a 30mm tubular tire (the internal width is 25mm, the external is 30.5/31mm). Is there something wrong with glueing Hell of the North 28mm tires on this rim? They're narrower than the external width.

It will probably be more aero. Only downsides are id say small and theoretical - the rim edge is more exposed to rocks, kerbs etc.

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. Maybe it's just in my head, but the tires certainly look too narrow for the rim. At least when viewed from a side angle. Head on, I don't notice it that much.

That doesn't look too good. If you have a gap between base tape and the carbon...not nice. Sure you can fill it by adding several glue layers but it will not be the best bond. My 23mm dugast sits very well in the 24.5mm bora, maybe becausexitchas a thick tape and is a tight fit. Better than the vittoria corsa 23 i tried a couple y ago. Those started to separate very visibly after a few rides.
