EIE Carbon Clinchers 285g, Lightest carbon clinchers?
Moderator: robbosmans
Thought some folks here may have an interest in these. They are SR30TC26H SL hookless version with 22mm inner diameter and 30mm depth. Expected weight was 320g+/-15g (standard version 380g). Rated at <140kg rider and recommend <80psi. Mine are rim brake compatible but they have options for disc.
Not looking to start another 'those will be too flexible / unreliable' thread, but figured I would share the find with weightweenie seekers.

Wow. Nothing near this weight is available even in the chinese marketplace.
My point is even chinese don't ride these kind of rims. Be careful.
I just ordered the "latest" and I got a 332gr hooked carbon clincher 30mm with ac3-like brake tracks, and high tire pressure tolerance. It uses some kind of new carbon layup method they call "butterfly".

How come they came in so light? Did you ask for that or was it a happy surprise?

Hookless is a no go for me on road bike, on mtb or heavy gravel, no problem. It's away from new road tubeless etrto which is basically mavic's ust. Though hookless rim is lighter, it's NUSAFE for road bike pressure. Even if you inflate to only 60psi, on the road it may rise up to over 80psi.
I was on the side when one dude tried to inflate GP5k TL on his hookless Enve. The tyre was blowed off the rim at 75-80psi. The manual of GP5k TL has already told us not to mount on a hookless rim, and obviously he didn't pay attention to that. I wouldn't risk anything like this myself.

They are not offered in domestic marketplaces like xianyu/taobao which have a lot of stuff.

They're just small production sold domestically. No brand. Might pop up on aliexpress one day, who knows. Right now they're available on taobao and xianyu (chinese markets).
Carbonbeam has an "x-weave" pattern that looks similar. Never seen it in person.alcatraz wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 3:57 pmThey're just small production sold domestically. No brand. Might pop up on aliexpress one day, who knows. Right now they're available on taobao and xianyu (chinese markets).

I guess we would all like an initial and long term review as soon as those are built into wheels.
