Visually the wheels look stunning, with tan sidewall tires and all back bike. Will change discs to black version also.

But not happy with the quality of the Zipp 404s.
Nice setup, looks fast. Yeah the marks are surprising, seems like they could easily buff out though with something like Muc-off miracle shine?

Got my wheelset today! Thank for all the feedback and guidance. Eventually settled on 303 FC as I got way better deal compared to 404, plus I already have better deep section set.

First thing I did of course is to weight them and got positively surprised - 1381 grams, with everything included as shipped - rim tape, valves and even the valve caps Image

As for tyres - went with the advice of Ryanw (thanks!) and got Veloflex Corsa Evo 28 TLR.
Rear tyre was a bit of a struggle to inflate on until I used soapy water and booster. Front was a breeze - just my normal track pump (but learning from the rear wheel already prepared with soapy water). Both tyres went on the rim by hand, no tyre levers whatsoever.

Looks - to each its own, but I love how they look. About to ride them later today so will share more.

Attached some photos. ImageImageImageImage

Hi,

Just a quick question - aren't the Veloflex Corsa TLR's supposed to be used in the 6/8 bar - (85/115 psi) range? I'm looking to get a set myself, but Zipp explicitly indicates 73 psi max for the new 404 Firecrest.
Thanks for the feedback!
Are the Veloflex tyres approved for Zipp hookless wheels?

According to a podcast with some zipp product manager, he said that it's up to the tires manufacturers to state if these are hookless compatible or not. Nonetheless, people seem to expect the other way around, being the wheel manufacturer testing and approving or not each tire that comes to the market. I honestly don't know who would be morally correct but I'd go for zipp's positions (it's up to the tire manufacturers).

According to their website, they're hookless compatible:
After several tests we can say that our TLR clincher tires, thanks to their Zylon beads, can be mounted safely on hookless rims
However, they can't guarantee the coupling with Zipp rims, since they stick with ETRTO standards - unlike Schwalbe, which seems to go beyond the standard table. However, I'm considering their 25mm for the 404FC.

Have many thousands of KM on customers bikes with Veloflex Corsa Evos (28c) on Zipp 303S, 303, 353, 404 and 454.

No issues to date.

According to what they have wrote there no tire would comply with a 25mm internal.

Schwalbe extends the ETRTO table covering 23mm internal width with 25 & 28mm tyres

So Veloflex Corsa Evos in 28mm are safe to ride on the new Zipp 404 Firecrest (23mm internal)? I'm on the heavier side at cca 200 lbs, so pressures should be around 60 psi for me on those wheels. Would this be ok with those tires?
Even Veloflex couldn't confirm it directly to me when I asked them.

60psi is too low.

You should be at 63-70R/60-66F

I'm running 64/60 at the same weight on 31c tyres.

Ok thanks. So basically it is safe to use Veloflex Corsa Evo 28mm with the new 404's, correct?

Just a heads up if someone is looking to buy within the EU. Found (and bought) these with the best price online, by a large margin:
