I wonder if this is the new wheelset on Alexis Ryans bike:

Those look like hooked rims to me.

If they'd be sub 1400g at that depth AND hooked, they might be a fantastic road wheel.
I really hope we won't see the next generation of ZIpP and Enve go completely hookless.

Whatever’s being released this week is definitely hookless, so don’t get your hopes up. :p

I don't see them not going hookless. They are making a statement that hookless is better. Just going halfway would be a confusing message as sales go.

Suuuck! - will we see 808/858 hookless? So you can only ride super deep wheels for TT with slow*, 28c tubeless tires on low pressure?

*there are very fast tubeless tires, but I don't know a single TT tire that is hookless compatible and most aren't even available in 28c.

The 303s are 23mm internal. You can then go lower. Some 25mm.

By that logic, why not choose a 25mm high rim for a TT :D

I think, Flatlandclimber's point remains valid - probably great wheels for all around riding (well, ignoring price that is :D), but for more specialist applications you're leaving seconds on the table and must either look for older rims or choose Aerocoach and similar offerings (which, having used them myself, I personally dislike for a variety of reasons)
Minimum bike categories required in the stable:
Aero bike | GC bike | GC rim bike | Climbing bike | Climbing rim bike | Classics bike | Gravel bike | TT bike | Indoors bike

Hookless has its place, but it is not for me for road racing yet.
Both my favorite road tires are not compatible with hookless (Turbo Cotton and GP5k), and basically all fastest tires aren't compatible either (Veloflex Record, Corsa Speed, Michelin Power TT, Schwalbe Pro One TT). Going sub 5bar (70Psi) is fine fore most of road riding, but not great for all of racing.

I'm not arguing against that. I'm just saying that in zipp's perspective they can argue that the fastest tire is their own tires. (I'm surely not saying it is)

I'm also not saying that I'm pro hookless. Either zipp, enve or other recommend some 50psi for my weight (28mm tire) which I find it... really "soft". But I really have no way of testing with precision.

But I'm curious with ryanw's comment. Let's wait and see what they come up.

Okay, the 858 only got a new hub. Not upset.
The other wheels or of no interest to me.
Sub 1400g for the ZIPP 454 is impressive, but slower with the narrow tire choice.

Do SRAM make their own hubs or are they made by someone else such as i9?

New 454 has 10w saving @ 40kph compared to MY20 454, both on 25c.
