Lightest clincher (rim brake) 40-45mm?

Looking at tubeless clincher rims, 40-45mm, rim brake.
Which are among the lightest?

Currently looking at Tune which i find have a resonable price in Schwarzbrenner 45C.

Ordering a custom built set with well known rims and hubs it seems i don't get a full wheelset much cheaper (looking at welknown brands).

The new Cadex 42mm clinchers are 1265 grams but cost $3,000. Since they’re not even out yet, no one knows anything about them.

You can build RR46C02 with Cyberhubs and Ti spokes for half the price, about 1207g according to my calculation. Not sure if Ti spokes are what @wheelsONfire is looking for, though.

I have a set of 45mm deep tubeless clinchers weighing in at 1280g. Extralite hubs and they dont cost $3000.

Talk to a wheel builder. We find it easy. This one has a se sible spoke count too.

Ti spokes = spoke failures for many.

I built a set of 38mm toroidal clinchers for 300usd and they weigh 1219gr. Hubs use small bearings though, frequent bearing swaps = not ideal. They aren't tubeless. I was told non tubeless would be lighter. I'm ok with running latex. I'm light so I don't get as much heat descending. Tubeless tires are heavy anyway. Gp5k + latex is a light and very fast combo, just not as puncture proof.

EIE SL are the lightest "affordable" rims. I have a 60mm set using lowly Novatec 428sl hubs that come in at 1495g.

The same set with 40s is around 1230g.

Talking to a good wheelbuilder would be my recommendation too - try Thomas @ German-Lightness or the Cycle Clinic (while he's still in the EU!).

bike beat

they are quite affordable too
If you don't want dt or tunes hubs
You can have them build you wheels usings cx ray spokes, their rims and manual labor for 1100 €
And you send them your hubs

+ they have the best carbon surface braking in the dry and also most important they brake as hell even under the rain

This seems to be very close to Tune Schwarzbrenner 45c gen 2.

I have the Cadex Rim and Cadex Diks
Rim break pair: 1297g
Disk break pair: 1401 (618/783)
Both without anything except the preinstalled tape.
Seems the rims must be light, as the hubs are the most likely same weight as DT-Swiss Disk hubs. So a Tune Airways rim break pair saves some 150g on the hubs about and is then 1184g .. what would make it heavier than the Cadex with same hubs. Now the spokes might save some weight towards the CX Sapim, but I do not think it is much. So at least the Cadex Rim is then lighter or about the weight of an Airways.
The ride feel is always the Rim weight and tire weight the most important. and here the Cadex feel fantastic I have to say. On climbs where you go over 20 km/h it is a fantastic flow feeling.
with a Cadex 23mm tire in the front, the wheels are like a 70mm in the wind, very sketchy. this almost disappears with a Cadex 25mm tire. Never felt such a huge difference in this regard just by changing the tire.
No added some Specialized RapidAir 26 on there. On paper 1mm wider, on a bike almost 3mm wider on the Cadex.
Same weight, like really same weight on my scale +-1g
Both tires do not need any sealant to be sealed and not lose air. So sealant will last longer, and you only need some 20g sealant for sealing a hole, not sealing a tire itself like with Vittoria and half way Schwalbe.
The Rapid-Air feel so much better though. the almost 3mm wider tire does it... fantastic. But the Cadex also feel very good and have a real good grip.
Do not know about Grip on the Specialized yet, just did one ride in the rain, easy.

I had the Schwarzbrenner. it is the Schmoke Rim, and it is absolutely useless as Tubeless. does not have any hooks in the rim bed, so tire drops right back to the centre when you lose air, and sealant flyers everywhere. Also unsafe.
the Airways had a perfect profile, they were just not robust and overcooked easy. A friend cooked mine twice (got replaced) and I broke two rims of them just by going through not to harch potholes, had worth with other rims and they did not break apart,
They should have updated the Airways rim with better material.. great Rim in general, and if you are light (I am 78kg) then they are still a great option.

Another vote for EIE SL rims. The rims themself can keep true up to 140 kgf under the test of my friend and he remarked high on the brake performance (80kg rider and he didn't buy the texture/AC3 track). His 45C hooked rims are 418g (18h) and 423g (21h).

A friend ordered the x-weave "butterfly" 45mm 28mm wide clincher in China and with textured brake tracks it was 399gr for 24h. Tubeless and hooked, supports gp5000 and high tire pressures.

My wife's 39mm deep, 31mm wide gravel rims weigh 400 and 405g a piece, IIRC.

My 38mm Winspace Hyper come in at a claimed weight of 1267gr. The 50mm rim brake version I think is about 1350gr.

I'll receive them this week so I can't comment on them yet, but I've started a thread on them and will update that when I have more to say.

They're filament wound rims with carbon spokes and a custom ceramic bearing hub.
