The rear tire is nearing the end of its life and I'm thinking of replacing both tires with tubeless, either Continental GP5000 TL's or Hutchinson Fusion 5 Performance.
I was under the impression that the CL50's did not come with tubeless rim tape, and that I would have to put some on the wheel. Today, out of curiousity, I deflated the front tire and partially removed it from the wheel. I noticed that the rim tape underneath says "Tubeless Ready" (see pic below). So is this rim tape safe to use with tubeless tires?
According to the Roval wheel manual, "The rim strips provided with Roval road rims are not tubeless compatible." See https://specializedeuropebvhelp.zendesk ... eitung.pdf
But then why would they print "Tubeless Ready" on them?
Also, the guy at the local bike shop recommended Gorilla Tape instead of rim strips. Has anyone tried this? I would have to cut it down to size, but apparently it seals quite well.
I ended up getting some Stan's 55mm universal valves. They are short, but I can fit the pump onto them. Will these work with the Rovals, or do I need the Roval branded ones?
One more thing, I have an old bottle of Conti Revo sealant. I bought it about a year ago and forgot I had it. Would it still do the job, or does it lose its 'freshness' after awhile. It hasn't dried out, still liquid.
