£200 eBay 55mm carbon wheels

I’ll weigh them and ride them tomorrow.
Only negative is no rim tape included.
I worked for a UK brand who sold their own carbon wheels, we had tons of different rim and hub options sent over to test and they were all fine. Some didn’t hold up well under excessive braking but I’ll be weary of that.
Interested to see how they perform.

I've considered picking up a set of the disc brake options. Yet to pull the trigger.

Being disc brake, I figure/hope there is less risk of failure or issues since I don't have to worry about delamination on the brake track.

Yup just an eBay link.
Just done my first 45 mile ride and they felt great, certainly felt more aero than my 45mm Cosmics. They did catch the wind a little more, stopping was about the same as the Cosmics.
For £200 + £27 import duty I’m blown away, honestly wouldn’t be able to tell any difference between these and my 404’s.
If I had one set of wheels I’d go big brand for the warranty, if it was these or a set of Prime, Hunt, Planet X or Cero at the £700 + mark it seems a no brainier, these all day long.
Weight wise they came in at 1650 so not too bad.
Obviously it’s early days.
When I worked for a UK wheel brand the landed cost of our wheels was £560 give or take.
These must be old stock they’re clearing out with everything going tubeless, 12 speed or disc. They have to be making a loss on these.

Bearings smooth, spoke tension feels even, wheels are true.
Only ridden 45 miles so far.

I have a set from a different seller, but same region of china. I am sure they are from the same factory. Mine were 56mm.

Mine were pretty good. Not the easiest to build (sourced my own spokes and hubs), but true. They had one new spoke “ping” on the first sprint, but have been solid since. I will recheck trueness and spoke tension soon, but i want more miles on them first.

Only negative is that i have subtle brake pulsing on the front, but they are new pads and i have yet to toe out the callipers (we live in a flat area).

@RocketRacing same here with a very subtle pulsing. Seems to be pretty regular on carbon rims. On these it’s certainly not a danger.
These were £200 for fully built wheels not just the rims.

I have zero need for them and they're really quite heavy but I'm strangely tempted to buy a set for that price.

I wish they had some 38mm rims (they do have a 30mm set) at this price. I live in a flat area with no hills so I'm not worried about overheating brake tracks.

The biggest knock on these is the 23mm width and presumably 16mm internal width. It's like you are stepping back 5 years.

But I guess that is why they are on sale. At least those 30mm wheels only weigh 1450 grams.

Yes, looks like they’re being sold cheaply because of the relatively narrow width. 23mm external width is still pretty wide internal for alloy (ie, velocity a23) but much narrower for carbon.

probaly the same stock, although width of 23mm, which is no bother for me.
