disc or rim brake ?
4.5AR are disc brake only
4.5 rim are actually discountinued in favor of 5.6 rim brake. Of 4.5 there are 2 versions that I know of.. Early version has no texture on brake track and newer version has texture.

FYI 5.6 rim brake tubulars are no longer available. I have one of the last sets built by OTE in Canada. I emailed ENVE asking if they discontinued them and what would happen if I needed a warranty claim - no response yet. OTE told me that in that event, I can either go clincher or choose something comparable.

All current Enve road wheels (and all wheels they've made since the X.Y naming convention started with the 6.7 in 2011) are SES wheels. That's when their partnership with Simon Smart started, hence Smart Enve System. As mentioned above, the two generations of SES 4.5 are simply old brake track or new brake track, no tubeless.
Although the 4.5AR is so much wider in rim width (also only in disc) than both 4.5 (rim) brake track versions.
If you can find the SES 4.5...that's the sizing I liked best. Almost as light as the 3.4. Seemed like the perfect wheelset combo.

The lack of a brake track on the version 1 makes me nervous, technology seems to have moved on. The Zipp 303 NSW is around the same price (second hand trend), if not cheaper, other than the brand name of Enve and perhaps the looks I can't see a reason to go for these. Version 2 is trending at a high price than the 303's around £600 more so doesn't seem too good value for money.
