Anyone, WTF happened to Mavic Cosmic Ultimate UST?

These were due for release jan/feb 2019, now vaporized on Mavics list of wheels?

Reminds me of the Ksyrium Pro Carbon SL UST wheels that were announced for 2017 and didn’t actually come out until a year later.

According the som einside info they are 'not yet ready in the production'.
Neverthelss as they are still in the most recent oem list of Mavic so they will come soorner or later...

My guess is that it is just like the Ksyrium Pro Carbon SL UST, manufacturing issues preventing them from making the production wheels within their tolerances/specs... In the end, they could make the Ksyriums work but they ended up being a lot heavier than first announced. They can't really do that for the Ultimates though, they wouldn't be 'ultimate' and wouldn't sell any at the higher price if they're almost as heavy as their Cosmic Pro Carbon SL UST...

Aren't the tubular vesrion of the Ultimates being used by the A2GR team right now? I own the Cosmic Carbon SL UST's and love them. I was however thinking about upgrading to the Ultimates until recent enforcement by Mavic not allowing online purchase from abroad. No way in hell am I paying $4200 for any wheelset.

The tubulars exist and have been available for years (the rim shape evolved to a more modern wide and round profile over the years) but it's much easier to make a light tubular rim than clinchers/tubeless. But if they expect people to pay 4200$, they better be much lighter than the Cosmic Carbon SL UST, not just 100gr less and a bit stiffer.

Ust version should also come with new hubs, so that may also be source of problems..

Aren't the hubs same same from tubular to clincher?
I though of tire burp. Tire come off the rim.

Tubular has the old aluminum rear hub with steel nipples on the non-driveside.

How weird, why not same hub on both wheelset versions?

Maybe they intended to update the tubulars with the newer hub, but as the new wheels are not production ready, they probably never stopped selling the previous Tubular wheels as is in the meantime.

Ouch - by which date they will most likely already be out of date !
Warning - Inherently biased:
