Measuring wheel width? (Sweet carbon)

So what is the standard for measuring rims?

To be more specific, my carbon rims measure 25mm or so near the outermost braking edge (closest to tire), 27mm on the deepest part of the braking edge (closest to wheel centre), and 28mm at the widest point of the rim.

Just curious.

I think there is no standard measurement.

I quess 3-4 years ago it was very rare, but these days it is becoming more common. For quite a while aero rims were prominantly "V-shaped" or "bulbous V-shaped", so it was logical to have rim's edges perpendicular to each other.

I'd say a logical way of measuring width is at the edge of the rim/brake track for both outer and inner width. Then, depending on rim profile and depth, some rims (typically "bulbous U-shape") can be expected to be wider than the edge somewhere down the profile.

Widest part i believe is called "leading edge".
It should be a picture of the widths marked.
Where you see brake track width aswell as "leading edge" and internal width.

Nit quite sure i follow. The diagram for the wheel showed 27mm indicating the brake track width. 18mm internal width.

Actual internal was closer to 17mm.
Brake track width went from 26mm to 27mm. Max rim width was 28mm. It was as if the profile diagram was a mere suggestion. Hahaha. I guess there is a good reason why the seller could not confirm sizing.

It's a good profile though. 17 internal will help with the front tire to stay within the leading edge, more choice.

Look at the right side rim. Brake track width + widest part of rim.

Really nice for sure. I will take 17mm internal over 18, because i want 25c to stay closer to 25mm. Gp5000 at 70psi should stay around 26mm... if i am luch, even narrower. It would be nice to not have to go 23cc (thinking aero and comfort)
