Hi WW,

Looking for new hoops, thinking of buying bontrager aeolus 3 pro tlr but I cant find any info
on their width with a 700x25 or 28 tire installed. Would like to be sure it will clear
my frameset (2015 Synopse Hi Mod). If anyone has any info on those measurements
it would be greattly appriciated.

thank you

The actual tire width will depend on the tire brand. For example, Continental GP4K SII tend to run big, about 3mm larger than advertised (so 25c tires would be closer to 28mm, and 28c tires closer to 31mm). On the other hand, Veloflex clinchers tend to run closer to the advertised size.

What tires are you planning on running?

I doubt you will have any clearance problems with those wheels and 25c Veloflex tires on your Synapse.

The bontrager aeolus 3 pro tlr wheels have an inner width of 19.5mm. If you are running stock Synapse wheels, the Mavic Aksium disc, they have an inner width of 17mm. Increasing inner wheel width by 2.5mm will increase the Veloflex 25 tyre width by about 1.25mm.

The 2015-2017 Synapse had clearance for 28mm tyres. That means 28mm tyres on stock rims have 4mm clearance on each side. On the wider bontrager rims, you should still have 3.3mm clearance on each side. Go 28mm and enjoy the extra speed and comfort.

If I may ask, how's the braking? I assume it's this wheelset:
