Hi there guys :)

looking for a decent set of climbing wheels for my Aeroad CF SLX been running the standard Pro cosmics with it since i bourght it but was looking for something a little more lightweight as our standard club runs seem to have around 4000 ft of climbing in about 60 miles xD

been looking at:
Yoeleos c38s Tubeless £457 1540g
Hunt Aero Race 27 deep £329 - 1439g
MAVIC KSYRIUM PRO EXALITH - £845 1475g
Zuss Pro 38 - £499 1459g

just wondering if any one knows any gems that might be hidden out there :)

Cheers
Amy

By using GBP as your currency I assume you reside in Europe. If you dare go for tubular, this Tune Schwarzbrenner 38T wheelset has quite a specification in relation to the current price tag. I don’t have any personal experience with those, so can’t comment further.

I live in scotland, its not really practical to run tubs on our roads because the surfaces are so terrible !

Something like Spada Stiletto is a lot lighter at 1260 grams for around 600 GBP
No idea if they ship to Scotland though

I had a set of Kinlin rims built to Tune hubs. Cost me around 500 GBP, but came in under 1300 grams. Could have gone lighter if I wanted to.

If you want a carbon clincher wheel, look at the Fulcrum Racing Light or Reynolds Attack - both under 1400 grams.

Proper light can be done with extralite hubs and mavic open pro ust rims or even lighter with the stans alpha 340. Carbon Ti add a bit of weight but not much.
Sub 1300g is really easy.

Light wheels for an Aeroad? I guess that would mean at least 38mm deep. Shallower would be weird on an aero frame, no?

If your roads are terrible you need wide internal width rims to give you more cushioning. Light rims aren's usually wide and your ride quality will suffer.

Like the previous poster said you might need to look into custom built wheels to save weight. Wheels are usually built to a specific rider weight and if they handle all rider weights you can be sure the wheels will be heavy.

I've a set of A-Force Al33's on Tune MigMag hubs. weighed at 1,475g with a ~19.5mm internal width and toroidal 33mm depth. Absolutely love them. I believe I paid around £900

They were built buy DCR wheels, great guy. He has an in-house set of hubs which would lower the cost and keep the weight down.

Have you serviced the hubs? If so, how easy/difficult was the process? Thx
