Alanyu, did you ask for this just because you were curious? Or was the idea to ask for a new rim if the weight was above the claimed tolerance? (ie, 25g)

(I had figured that I am just going to get what I get, since these wheels are produced as one-off special orders.)

Anyone ordered DT Swiss 240s lately? Are LB through all the recalled hubs yet?

I don't want the rim to be in the +0 ~ +15 tolerance, so ask them to scale it.

Wanna replace the rim tape for my AR55 Pro next time I swap tires, had some issues to get the tire seated last time.
What width tubeless tape should I go with for the AR55 pro?

They are 21 internal, measured bead to bead I think, should I go with 23 or maybe even 25mm tape? What do you guys think?

I'd pick 25. 3-6mm wider then rim depending on availability.

I would suggest wrapping the rim using 21 mm tape, circling the rim twice making sure that the first pass is biased more to one side or the other then the second pass biased to the opposite side. Alternately, 23mm pulled/stretched tight so that it is centered in the channel with slight overlap on the walls.

Availability isn't really an issue, wasl ooking at TESA tubeless tape. Both 23 and 25mm are available. I've heard about the overlapping technique but prefer just having a bit wider. Some websites suggest going for atleast 3-4mm wider then your rim, others suggest same size. Urgh... My wheelbuilder says both 23 and 25mm will work, I just wanna have the best seal around and don't have to worry about it to much :)

my internal 21mm rims i've wrapped with the tesa 25mm, works fine. my 26 internal i've wrapped with 29mm, works fine too. 23mm wont reach both walls because of the depth of the central channel.

23 is too narrow for 21 internal. Overlapping is not ideal, as it is easier to pull the tape up. For 21 internal I would go with 25mm.

Carbon-Ti is responsive. A calliper resulted that the shim is 0.28 mm, which is slightly compressed according to Carbon-Ti (They said the tolerance is 0.3~0.4 mm).

Here is how to set preload given by Carbon-Ti, if anyone need to adjust the preload:

"First you need to know that the bearing preload of the rear hub closes the play by turning counterclockwise, opens the play clockwise.
Now we recommend first of all to open the bearing preload clockwise (unscrewed the grub screw), then check that the axle end is closed using two good quality 5 mm hex wrenches.
Then tap the inner axle of the hub sideways on the side of the freewheel with a plastic hammer to put the axle end in good contact with the outer bearing of the freewheel.
Then close the play with the bearing preload by tightening it counterclockwise with your fingers only (no tools required) until it stops. From that position lighten clockwise a quarter turn to relieve the pressure in the bearings. Finally close the grub screw fixing the bearing preload."

They also confirmed that my hub has a new-designed rubber seal with a lip, which is different from the one in the manual online.

Though the first time I follow the suggestions step by step didn't improve the freewheeling much, I find that the hub needs a break-in, due to the new rubber seal.

After 80 km soft ride, back spinning the crank can only move the wheel slightly now. It's still not ideal and the drag in the freehub is a bit high, but much less concerning now.

However, there is freewheeling problem. The wheel spined backwards when I back spinned the cranks. I disassembled the hub, and shockingly there is only one 0.1 mm shim between the bearings. It should be one 0.4 mm or 3 * 0.1 mm in the old design. I have no idea whether it is due to QC of carbon ti, or due to the builder not puting all shims back. I have written to them, but they both are in holiday atm.

An ordered Zipp 404 FC came 1.571g I sent them back and looked for alternatives.

Happy I found this thread and I placed my order yesterday.

AR 56 featherlight rims, satin finish with DT240exp and Pillar Spokes. Should be 1.410g … impressive light I would say. Hopefully faster than 6-8weeks until I have them here. And the rims are with a hook I don’t have the limitations with tire choice as with the hookless Zipps.

Placed my order April 27th and my wheels left China May 31st and I received them today (Germany).

1.434g for the set (front 669g / rear 765g).

I will use Continental 5000 25c front and 28c rear with Tubolitos SRoad tubes (80mm valve stems). Will keep you updated when wheels are ready in my Cervelo S5.

Are you happy with the satin finish in person? Thinking of going the same path for my new disc bike. Have the ar56s in matte on my rim bike and they are a fast wheel.

Satin finish is great - I am really happy with these.

My Contis 25c in front came about 28 width and the Conti 28c in the rear 29.4mm. So at least in front I am comfortable within the 105% rule.
