Without a doubt the 350 is the best valued option. It's about the same weight as the old 240. Make sure you get the newly released 350. I recently bought a new wheelset from LB and it did come with the latest 350.

How can you tell the difference between the old and new one? I suppose the new one still uses x2 ratchets (non EXP). But the new one is with the painted on decals (which, by the way, sucks)? What's the weight difference?
By the way, what's the best way to save the freehub body? I have DT Swiss 350 and it definitely shows the signs of wear on the top cogs (I run Ultegra cassette).

I have the MTB version of the straight pull 350 hubs. The weight is very close to the 240 EXP which I also own but in the road version.

To prevent Shimano cassettes from digging into the soft aluminum freehub the best defense is ensure the lockring is tightened to a minimum of 40NM.

Do you also happen to use Torque cap?
I'm confuse on what model of torque cap to use. The one for prior dt240 or the one for prior 350 (or maybe the one for exp hubs).
Quick guess would suggest it's the one for the old dt 350. But the old dt 350 use tool-press-in end cap while new Dt 350 use tool free end cap like the old dt240 and new 240 exp hubs.
So I don't know.

Hi all! New to this place.
I'm looking to buy a set of wheels from LB.. and on a pretty tight budget, roughly ~1.2k aud

Between DT350, I9 1/1, bitex and ARC, which one will you guys recommend and/or which will you avoid?

And is I9 torch/DT240/carbon-ti worth the addition 100-200aud?

Thank you!
My WR50 roll nicely on the 1/1 24/28. The only thing "wrong" about the hubs is that the bearings are not industrial standard. They are basically Enduro "proprietary" (pls correct me if wrong).

What made you decide on 1/1 instead of DT or carbon-ti?

I don't use a Torque cap. My 350 MTB hubs are used on a shockless Turbo Creo ebike. But I do know the new 350 comes with tool-less end caps.

From the Bikerumor article I linked earlier.

But there are some worthwhile upgrades. From the outside, we also spotted the new end caps. It’s a tiny detail, but the notched style first debuted on the top 180, then 240 hubs makes it surprisingly much easier to pop the caps off tool-free when you need to maintain your hubs or swap freehubs or axle standards.

The 28H hub geometry makes a better 3x lacing at the rear (better torsional stiffness). I think it's slightly better than DT in this regard. Carbon-Ti doesn't have 28H rear I think, and it's more expensive. The loud and busy freehub sound is bonus :)

Thanks, do you know what's the difference between the old and new in weight and otherwise?

Carbon Ti hubs are extremely noisy. Why 24/24 spokes? How much do you weigh?
Can anyone help with the spokes thing? How many spokes should I be looking for? I weigh approx 76kg, and the wheels are going on a gravel bike but will be used for on-road riding... 24/24 was the option available on the Light Bicycle wheel builder but maybe there are other options if I ask...

Also, CX-Ray all round or CX sprint rear drive side?

Disc brake hub geometry means there is not such an spoke tension imbalance between DS and NDS. I would stay CXray all round, also you will probably be fine 24:24 for road riding.

Using a 54T on the road just for the noise factor is fine as long as one is willing to accept the loss of speed during a high speed descent.
There's no loss if you don't descend!

you should use the ones for the old 350 hub.

"But the old dt 350 use tool-press-in end cap while new Dt 350 use tool free end cap like the old dt240 and new 240 exp hubs" => that only applies to the rear hub

the front hub 350 has larger bearings and the fork thru axle will be running directly on the bearings. the 240 has an internal aluminium axle that will house the fork thru axle.
