Hi all, has anyone measured the actual width of a 25 tyre on the AR465 or AR55 rims? My frame (BMC Teammachine 2019) has a 28mm max stated clearance and I fear it might be too tight with these rims... Thanks!

They have measured several, a list is on the light bicycle website. Measurements and ease of mount score.

Any insight on the difference between AR55 (Falcon Pro) and the AR56 (Falcon, 28mm) for rim brake?

Trying to decide between these two rims.
Both have (almost) the same inner width (AR55: 21mm, AR56: 21.6mm) and the outer width both are at 28mm. The Falcon Pro has a max width that is 30mm just below the brake track.

Both will fit my frame.
The rim profile/shape is slightly different and I just don’t know which would be better.

I’m planning to run 28mm tires and will use them only on my aero road bike and only for road rides.

I'd look at it very simply - the AR56 is wider. Yes, the AR55 does bulge out to 30mm but at the brake track it's 28mm vs 30mm for the AR56. Can your brakes handle 30mm at the brake tracks? And do you have clearance for the tires. You will need to put at least 28mm tires on the AR56's and with the 23mm (not 21.6) internal dimension, they will inflate close to 30mm actual measure. Not many rim brake road bikes can handle tires this big. Even on the AR55's, many 25mm tires will inflate close to 28mm actual measure.

There are two versions of the AR56. One is 21.6mm/28mm and the other one is 23mm/30mm.

I’m looking at the 28mm (outer width) version of the AR56 versus the new AR55 (rim brake).

in that case go with whichever is lighter - my guess would be that you won't notice a difference.

Just a quick question on shipping via TPD (prepaid tax). It says shipping is via DPD to Europe, when I try to track the parcel over the DPD website, it says that shipping information was transmitted but nothing else.

On the other hand when I use the website that Light Bicycle gave me for tracking, it says that it’s already in Belgium since 19th of November (two days after it was shipped) but has not moved since, which is a bit odd as it obviously only took two days to get to Europe but is since stuck in Belgium for almost two weeks.

Any experiences on that?

Shipping via TPD (prepaid tax) is not via DPD, thats why the tracking wont work on the DPD website. The only way to track TPD is via http://134.175.219.102:8082/trackIndex.htm

Thanks for your response, that’s the website I’m tracking the parcel, but in the email they say it’s shipped with TPD but the carrier is DPD (DE), that’s why I supposed you can also track it via DPD website.

My tracking information looks very similar:

2021-11-19 22:03:26 Belgium Flight has arrived
2021-11-19 03:26:50 nanchang Airlines\/Departure of shipment of airlines
2021-11-18 17:22:38 nanchang Transit declaration\/Transit customs declaration
2021-11-17 16:36:00 DPD data centre Order information has been transmitted to DPD.
2021-11-16 17:56:14 xiamen The goods leave the operation center
2021-11-16 17:54:40 xiamen Arrived at the operating center

So I suppose it’s normal, that it stays in Belgium for about three weeks after arrived there and starts moving again after that period of time. Seems strange, but hey, what to do I know? :)

Edit: oh, now I see that your parcel kind of lost its direction between 3rd of October and 5th of November. Hopefully mine won’t take that wrong turn.

Try https://parcelsapp.com/en/tracking/ Good tracking website to check if there is more information about your shipping...
I still waiting mine to be send. From experience... usually they pay taxes in other country (Belgium Netherland or others) and then DPD shipping label is only for Europe and its different tracking number

I would suggest that for a 28mm wide rim on an aero bike you want an aero profile tyre to match. A 28mm tyre on either of these wheels will measure 30mm wide. I suggest you use a 25mm tyre which will measure 28mm wide and provide a good transition from the tyre to the rim.

Just built my AR46 rims up with a Hope Pro 4 24h front hub, DT Swiss 350(MTB) 28h rear hub, Sapim D-Light spokes and Sapim 14mm brass nipples. Just had them on the kitchen scales and they come in at 1660g, less than I thought they would weigh so pretty happy.

Quality of them looks pretty good so happy with that. Would I buy them again? ...... probably, but only if I had a set of wheels I could use while I was waiting for them.
