Lightweight Road Disc Wheelset

I can't find anything remotely close to my old Shimano rim brake tubular wheelset weighing in at 1030g. Anything close in a disc brake tubular wheelset?

Supposedly Schmolke is claiming sub 1kg for their TLO 30 laced to Extralite hubs build. I don't know if I believe that though since Denavelo's TLO30 (rim brake) to Tune Mig/Mag 145 is 1,000g pretty much in the dot and you'd need 4 more spokes on the front and slightly heavier hubs.

Budget? For $630, I'm building a ~1100 gram tubular disc wheelset using Farsports rims, CX Ray spokes, and Bitex hubs. I believe I'd be under 1000 grams using Extralite hubs (-130 grams vs. Bitex), and could go even lower with AX Lightness rims (-100 grams vs. Farsports). But I'm happy with where I'm at for the money spent.

I recently built a pair of 24/28 disc clincher wheels using DT Swiss 240s rear and Hope RS4 front hubs, Light Bicycle RRU25C02 rims, and CX-Ray spokes with DT Squorx nipples. The completed wheels came in at 1430g. On the manufacturer's claimed rim weights, if I'd substituted the tubular version of the same rim (https://www.lightbicycle.com/25mm-deep- ... rface.html), that would have saved 75g per wheel, for a total wheelset weight of 1280g. All up cost of the wheel components was ~$US725, and substituting the tubular rims would have saved $40 on that.

Which model Bitex hubs are you using?

BX106F, 15mm thru and BX106R, 12mm x 142mm, Campy freehub. Both 24 hole. I have another wheelset built using the same hubs in 24/28 drilling and deeper and wider tubular rims.

Roval CLX 32 disc tubular wheelset is 1230- I think that is pretty light for a disc wheelset- They will be robust too. Not flexy or prone to break spokes.

Aby idea where to find AX LIGHTNESS rims?They do not sell them on their website

I don't think they sell them separately anymore. You might try writing Nils @ AX though, maybe they'd work something out.
However, with AX rims and light hubs (Extralite, Tune), your final wheelset price would approach the same they are selling their prebuilt stuff.

Remember disc brakes exert proper loads on the spokes and disc brakes hubs have narrower flange to flange spacings compared to rim brake hubs.

With tubular rims weight of 1100g to 1200g is quite possible. Rims that are too light with low spoke counts could result in a wheel being pulled towards the caliper on braking.

They Say the internal width is huge at 16.5mm i don't think that's wide. I wonder how light the rims are. I would not believe the other bold claim of the wheels bring as aero as deeper ones unless by deeper you mean 30mm.

Otherwise I am sure they are fine.

I'm using CLX32 clincher disc, couldn't be happier with them, other than if they were £500 cheaper and ditched the Ceramic bearings, I don't think they're needed for the cost.

Any chance you put those clx 32 disc wheels on the scale before you built them up?
Just asking because I read in a review somewhere there was a discrepancy between claimed and actual weight.

I weighed mine at 1395g for the pair with stock rim tape and 12mm adapters front and rear. I’ve read that the tape isn’t the lightest so I’ll be swapping that out before they come out of winter hibernation.
