I recently purchased a Merckx Mourenx disc frame on closeout, and as I didn't have a lightweight set of disc wheels, went looking but couldn't see anything that appealed at any sort of a reasonable price. Eventually built my own set of 24/28, using:

DT Swiss 240s 28h rear hub
Hope RS4 straight pull 24h front hub
Light Bicycle RRU25 carbon rims - 18mm internal width, 25mm depth
CX-Ray spokes and DT Squorx nipples

Built-up weight, according to my kitchen scales, with tubeless rim tape but without valves installed, is 650g front wheel and 780g rear wheel (1430g total). Total cost of the components was approximately $AU960. I got Light Bicycle to apply their logo in orange, as the Mourenx frame is largely orange.

im in the process of looking for a lightweight disc wheelset. where did you source all the other parts from?

I have emailed light bicyle and far sport for some p ricing and weights.
far sport can build a 25mm deep and 25mm wide wheelset with extralite hubs down to 1150/set+/-30g!
only thing with the extralights is that they cant accept centrelock discs

Sounds like a close to perfect light'ish wheelset for disc :beerchug:

Good for climbing and will do well on the flats as well.

Only question; what's wrong with the DT front hub?

Hubs and spokes came from r2-bike. The front and rear hubs were both on sale at a substantial discount. Nothing wrong with a DT front hub, but the Hope was about half the price of a 240s front. I didn't go with Hope rear hub because their freehub mechanism is too noisy for my taste.
