That’s across 2 pairs! But they’re not dead yet. I reckon 3500 is about doable.

3500 miles = 5632.704 Km .... I normally replace tyres just after 2000 km (I might get a bit more on my current tyres: Continental GP 5000 TL as they are nearing 2000km and they still look very good with Zero punctures on some really bad roads)

If I can get 4000 plus km with hardly any punctures on the Hell of the North, they could be a nice winter tyre

Just for comparison I get about 4000km on crappy Irish roads(similar to crappy UK roads) from GP 4000S II
That's from the back tyre, the front one lasts for much longer. I change them as soon as the wear indicator is gone but could probably get another 200-400 km if I wanted.
Usually only a couple of small cuts in the tyre nothing serious.

Anyone have actual sizing for the 28mm Hell of the North tyres on a CLX64 wheel?

Not the clx64 but clx50 with same internal width, 64 is slightly wider externally.. Not sure if it makes a difference.

What pressure are you running the 26mm at? Latex or butyl? What's your weight? The 26mm should be very comfortable as those tires are very supple.
I run mine around 105 psi because I'm too afraid to go lower.

Are you wearing through the tire wear indicator in only 2000km? Or accumulating bunch of cuts and thats why you change tires so often?

numerous punctures is when I replace them .... I have not tried the 'Hell of the North' turbo cottons yet, but I am now on Continental GP 5000 ....

I used the clincher version in 32mm on my touring bike (same roads and commures as with the Turbo Cottons), and I got close to 5000 Km before the 1st puncture on the rear... I have the tubeless version in 25mm on my Trek Emonda SL6 and have just over 1600Km with zero punctures

I've just received my new wheels for my touring bike on Friday and have installed the GP5000 TL (tubeless) in 32mm .... amazing tyres and I will stick with GP5000 until something better is released

I got about 5500 km on rear 4000 SII (far from wear indicator limit, got side cut ) and more then 7000 km on front .. 2000 km to me look very premature wearing....
