Best brakepads for Hed Belgium?

Hey guys.

I've been on carbon clinchers for last 5-6 years, but recently bought a pair of hed belgiums for some riding in the dolomites with changeable wheather.

So what are the best brakepads for aluminium clinchers these days?

Kool-Stop Salmon seem to be a popular choice for aluminum rims.

Shimano pads are as good as anything else and cheaper than SS (which I find soft and spongy).

I’m using Swissstop Flashpro BXP across all my alu rims. Great modulation, quiet and work really well in the wet.

I am using Kool Stop salmons with Belgium C2-s. Previously was using DT Swiss alu rims and the regular shimano pads tended to collect small aluminium shards in them.

For stopping power the Swiss Stop Blue BXP are great. For rim longevity in wet weather the KoolStop salmon are great. Both are better choices than Shimano pads of any level, IMO.

on a sideline note, bear in mind that the brake tracks on the HED Belgium plus rims are narrow

The current Shimano R55C4 are great and cheap but still eat rims in the wet.

My current favourite are TRP.

I have noticed this recently as well. After spending 8000 miles on Koolstop I never had this problem.

Yes, this is a very important point. For KoolStop definitely use the Dura Type 2 pads as they are a little more narrow in the vertical direction and will fit the rim track better.
