just technical question

I saw White Industries has no cover on outer freehub bearing.
Is outer bearing same 2RS seal or something more sealed?

Or cassete nut protect this side enough so it dont needs extra protection?

afaik the t11 hubs are shielded but not sealed - not just the freehub, no seals anywhere except those of the bearings themselves

i considered these when speccing some new wheels for winter, but although i really liked the looks, decided against as i probably will have a lot of wet rides with regular hosing down needed

if you have mostly dry rides, i wouldn't worry about lack of extra seals

If only they had 2RS spec'd bearings what a better place the world would be.. if they shit them selves opps I mean when. Get some 2RS bearing to replace them.. the lack of extra seals and low fill bearings is the one real weekness of the the T11s

So design with shield to protect bearings is no good enough for rain rides?

DT swiss has also no seal (240 and 350) - but very tight encaps and DS baring extra protected.

dt swiss 240 has a seal on rear ds between freehub and ds bearing

the rear nds and front shields are two layer (for want of a better description), i may be wrong, but i think all the cap/axle interfaces have o-rings

the outside freehub shield is probably the most vulnerable area as it's single shield, i put some extra grease on the freehub bearings (waterproof grease, not general purpose)

isn't the dust cap with 'O' ring a seal? that pretty much keeps everything out without actually being a washer-based seal.

Yes Dt endcaps has seals on inner side. But no seals on outer

I have a litlle project - to make a plan for solid hub. Project for one or two years to be finished

And so looking for simple and good design.

Classic flanges, steel parts (or titanium - freehub, axle, endcaps)

Weight front 80g, rear 240g

now just looking for some designs

and WI looks very simple and good one

the dt hubs have good bearing durabitly as the bearings are a million miles from the outside world..

the whites can be improved by using a RS2 spec bearing ( they ones that come in them are LLB with are non contact low grease fill ) or an LLC bearing which is double contact seal high grease fill..
