Lightweight Ventoux III
Moderator: robbosmans
Just purchased these Lightweight wheels, whilst waiting for delivery I'm deciding on what cassette to buy. My Meilensteins and Obies both have Dura Ace, but as these wheels will be for occasional use, mainly windy days. Would it then be sacrilege to put the new Ultegra R8000 cassette on, and take the weight penalty, or just splash out for Dura Ace.
Cheers

Considering the amount of Lightweights you have, isn't the price difference between the Ultegra and Dura Ace cassette negligible? Now, I don't want to spend your money, but I'd say it's your time riding the bike that is most valuable, so if you can afford it, go for the best and lightest setup!
Weight for Ultegra 8000 cassette: CS-R8000 11-28t cassette: 246g (according to Bikerumor)
Weight for Ultegra 6800 cassette: 11-28t, 292g
Weight for Dura Ace 9100 cassette: 11-28t, 196g

Yeah I was looking at Sram Red to, didn't know how it would work with mixing the grupo, also bloody expensive, over $330.
The 6800 could go on the Kickr, 8000 on the wife's bike, so I could keep looking I suppose.
If I did get Sram that would have to go on the Obies, and the Dura Ace cassette moved to the Ventoux as I would use the Obies more.
