I can't opine on what the best option is because my experience is limited to just two set-ups. However I've been riding Bora 3.5's (clincher) with Michelin 25mm pro 4 endurance tires and i'm very pleased. I enjoy them more than the 32 mm Compass on Mavic disc(krysium) on my Firefly. I can't really comment as to whether my solution is better or worse than an Enve one.

Just to note that i have had the exact same failure on the turbo cotton's as noted in Enve report. On the 3.4 descending on the marmotte last year, the rear tyre side wall cut but i managed to notice it (the brake started to rub on the sidewall as it bulged) before the tube popped. Luckily it was my descent home down Alp D Huez.

^ I can’t see why you wouldn’t have a similar failure. The turbo cottons are possibly the most supple clincher out there at the moment. Very nice. It’s an ENVE issue, not a tire issue.

I'm going to mount the Rubino Pro TLR 28c to the 4.5 AR.

Edit:
Installation was a breeze! Levers are required only for the rear wheel; beads fit to the pit very closely, didn't even bother to unscrew the valve and seated the beads first try.

Front and rear are 29.9 and 29.8mm effective at 70psi. You could feel them conforming to the rim shapes quite well, better than the Fusion 5 Perf TLR. Can't wait to test riding them!

Hi Long time reader first time poster here.

I purchased a set of Enve 4.5 wheels late last summer. put swabb 1's on and was good to go. bike is a BMC Road1
Read up on the Conti 5000 TL for rolling resistance spacific and wanted to give it a go. Got a set for Christmas so life is too busy.
Put a set on a Trek Madone, with 5 wheels on it. Not easy for one person to do! fairly sturdy person by bike standards, 6'1" size 14 shoes, 260 lbs.
Like the tires on the madone, will not be easy if you need to slide a tube in on the road though!

Put a back on on the AR 4.5 drove 1 hr 5 min to a trail head and 15 feet and one U turn the tire popped off the rim, Loud, was able to clip out in time.
Now side wall has 2 stone holes throug it. Thought I would go home and read up on why this happend, found this post. Yea!....

Looks like I have one spare for the Madone....

I mean...the sidewall of the tire says not to use it on hookless rims. It's not merely a suggestion.

Most road riders aren't familar with hookless versus hooked rims since its coming from the mtb side and since its a tubeless tire and a tubeless rim....

Nor was I, saw the 5000 TL and thought wow, this Looks KooL!
Well it was for 11 or 12 seconds.

Also in the posts I saw a person that had problems mounting on Aloq.... 5 Trek wheels.
Managed to get them on, Patient and plastic irons. but they went on and after several rides no issues like the 4.5AR Enve issues.

Was hoping to pick up the Rolling Resistance advantage as well as the puncture resistance of the 5000TL.

Personally the other issue is 275 lbs on several of the wheel brands is a no go. The Enve 4.5 have well over 1200 miles and no issues at all. (24 spoke disc front and rear)
Sold a Tarmac as the wheels were rated for 225 and the picture in my head of the wheel imploding at speed was not a particularry pretty one...

Also what tire pressures were you running when the GP5K blew off the rim?

For 28mm tires, ENVE warns you not to exceed 80psi.
