Haha, hitting up Amazon for a green screen as I type this. Taking requests for suitable backgrounds.

I have actually been secretly planning a trip to Shimano HQ in Sakae, here in Japan, in a bid to grill them about this whole thing. If I manage to pull that off, I will video the whole thing and YouTube it.

Do it!!! I emailed this thread to several cycling news sites and not one has posted anything on this. I think people should know that they're not getting what was promised.

I see that retailers are listing these as 35mm deep

he pro peloton demands performance and Shimano have delivered with their Dura Ace 9100 C40 Carbon Clincher Wheelset. With an aerodynamic 35mm carbon fibre rim depth, this wheelset is light, stiff and fast rolling. Shimano's quick-engaging freehub ensures that when you need to put the power down it is instantaneously transferred into the road

What a con Shimano.

Sigmassport may have updated, but almost everyone else state either 37mm or 40mm depth.

Worse though, every retailer I have seen, Sigmasport included, claim a 24mm width. Which is plain false, they are still the old 20.8 mm rims. Shimano royally screwed up and gave everyone the wrong information. Including their own website, which was silently updated a couple of weeks ago (and still state 622x17C when it's actually a 15C).

Yeah, they did change the specification http://bike.shimano.com/content/sac-bik ... -cl-f.html. How come they name their wheels C40 while they have 35mm rim height? The other new model, the C60s have a rim height of 50mm, this was probably changed as well.

I noticed it only applies to the clincher versions, the tubeless C40s and C60s have the rim heights of 37mm and 60mm respectively, I don't know if it's intentional or subject to change

But they forgot to remove the marketing blurb about "WIDE SECTION RIM".

Not exactly how I'd describe a 20.8mm rim in 2017...

BMC used the new C40 tubs at OHN and KBK weekend just gone. They look bloody nice. And nothing like the 'C40' clinchers.

I saw a pair of the latter today and they're identical to the old C35's bar the new decals.

The tubular C40 is 1,384g according to shimano and its rim height is 37mm. The list price is $2,400. Why would you buy it over any of these: zipp 303 (45mm / 1,390g), roval clx 32 (1,155g), roval clx 50 (1,230g !) or even the campa bora one 35/50 (1,215g / 1,265g)?

I mean it's really hard to find any manufacturer that has a heavier wheel at this price point in this category.

There's more to a wheel than just the rim, the weight and the price.

Very true - although sadly with the move from C35 to C40 clinchers there is literally nothing new but the stickers on the wheels
