I wanted to share with you the project I was working on since the begging of last year. Finally the tool is ready
Spoke tensiometer calibration jig allows to calibrate tensiometer and create brand new tension chart for new type of spokes like pillar wing, berd and others.
Tool is available commercially.

All details, description on my blog:

Looks really top quality. I wonder if it's possible to have a turning mechanism with a finer thread pitch. That would make it easier to dial in the intended tension on the spoke easier. That or perhaps a two stage adjustment where there is a finer threaded section further down the chain in addition to the threaded wheel shown.

Great work!

Thank you Ergott!

I was testing/using prototype for almost one year with the same thread pitch and the resolution is really sufficient. Making a jumps every 5kg is not a problem.

Additionally in the production version we did the tension lock ring in case someone want's to calibrate several tensiometers in a row. With this you basically set up the tension, lock it and then you can use several tensiometers one by one to calibrate them. Very stable and useful.

5kg increments is what I do so that's great! If I didn't already make one I'd surely consider buying that. That's far more useful than a truing stand that costs several times that.

Agreed. That's why I started this project. There are only few tools like that available on the market, usually based on fixed frames which limits the spoke lengths and measurement device types. My objective was to build a flexible platform from solid components within affordable price. Will see if this jig finds it's place in other's workshops. First units went to Canada, US and Europe - cross fingers!

@All, even if you don't plan to buy it, please share this within your network. Based on the success of this project I have in plans the second one, way more interesting. I'll place a pool in a separate thread. It will be very ambitious project so I'm at the stage of market research to find if there will be a sufficient demand.

stay tuned!

I have a similar jig to black cat wheels. It does not look a nice though but does the same job. You would not sell mine as its does not look commerical like yours. nice work.

Park TS2.2
Park dish stick
Sapim spoke tension guage.
Sapim spoke tools
gloves and hands for stressing spokes.
wooden lead beater as that actually makes a good spoke stresser if my hands feel weak or hurt.

I never use that park tenion chart thing. no point. Why do a need a spreadsheet to show me the variation. I know for a given spoke what tension variation on the guage is good

Hey Malcolm... good to hear from you :-)
I'm hoping to test and use couple of your hubs in 2019.

As for the jig.. if anyone will be looking for such tool in UK then give me a shout. Shipment won't be any problem

cheers
Tomasz

Gen II of spoke calibration jig was released and mostly sold. Last two units are available. You can browse facebook or instagram to see the posts from the shops who bought it
