the PEO coating should last for many thousands of kms

Hey,

Could you give an update on how you feel about those wheels? Thinking about also getting them but I have yet to see any reviews on them. Also, what kind of brake pads do you use with them?

Thanks for your help.
I only use them in dry sunny conditions, so far they're like new. cc 1000 km only though.
I contacted Vision prior to purchase, and they have told me no special pads are needed. I use stock ultegra pads.

Any coated alloy rim (including ceramic) will eventually wear off and taking them out in the rain will quicken this process ten fold. My Boyds became completely silver within a month after taking them out five days a week with most of those days in the wet. In fact, it showed signs of wear literally after the first time it was ever taken out in the rain which was 54kms and I have pictures of it. Braking performance was indeed better while the ceramic coating was still there but noticeably decreased when it was worn out (although still as good as any normal alloy rim).
While this might be true, on many rims the coating lasts a couple 10k Kilometers. So once the coating might wear off, the rims would probably be replaced regardless.

Good to hear. Thanks for the quick reply.

Edit: one more thing. Do you happen to have some pictures of your bike with those wheels?

Loving my DTs. Solid braking, 0 pulse and so damn stiff for crits while not being painful on the ride to and from. ImageImage

I can vouch for DT's Oxic. Been riding them for at least 1000k and they still look new.

I really don´t understand why ppl bother with this.

If you don´t want to spend premium $$ on carbon wheels, then just buy some cheap chinese carbon wheels for sunny days, and some cheap alu wheels for rainy days. This ceramic brake track inbetween thing is just the worst from both worlds. You wont get several 1000 km out of them unless you only ride them in dry weather, and if you do, you might as well buy some better looking cheap chinese carbon rims.

Did anyone tried those? They look fantastic and their current price is very tempting...
According to road.cc they could be a nice alternative, but I don't think I ever seen a bad review from that website, so I don't trust them much.

I've had them for a year now. Pretty good set of wheels, can't really say bad things about them.
The edges could be more aero, but that's not a big deal for me.
