At $600 a rim and no weight savings I can discern, I don't think you have to worry much about them as competitors.

Germans have been making woven machine made rims for a while. The current breakthroughs are in marketing only, or fine tuning of the existing process. The rim that Lightweight is releasing sometime soon seems to be the closest to what we have been doing for the past two years.

Recommended consumer prices ex Belgium in single pieces are:

Rim model
Venn Rev 35 TCD €462.00
Venn Rev 35 TCC €476.00
Venn Rev 35 TUC €399.00
Venn Rev 507 TCD €507.00
Venn Rev 507 TCC €533.00
Venn 35 TUD €397.00
Venn 507 TCC €582.00
Venn 507 TCD €557.00
Venn Enduro 27.5 €466.00
Venn Alter TCD €492.00
Venn Alter TCD €487.00

"Bulk" orders of at least 8 rims at a time are priced much better.

Cheers,

Victor

VAT included. Shipping charges depend on where it ships and then it may be cheaper from Taiwan.

Romain, The only thing that changed is that our pricing for quantities lower than 8 rims has stabilized at a more sustainable level. The price you were offered reflects our OEM pricing and that has not changed much.

You also showed our quote to you ex Taiwan, not Belgium which also excludes import duties and VAT and lastly, this is a quote that I gave to you as our existing customer.

Second, the origin of rims does not make a superseded manufacturing process somehow more valid. Human hands are fantastic for many crafts, but monotonous, repetitive labour that requires actual (not just aspirational) accuracy and precision every single time is not one of them. There is no room for craftsmanship when it comes to mass production of long fiber reinforced composite parts as the slightest deviation from the norm causes disproportionally large changes in performance.

Do you currently have Venn Rev 35 TCC rims and/or wheels in stock? If so, would it be possible to pick it up locally? I will be in Taipei on December 15th.

has anyone taken the plunge on these, or found any reviews? It looks like UK-based DCR wheels is sourcing his new premium rims from Venn.

I am also looking for people with experience with these rims. I'm planning on using the Venn 507 rims tubeless in my next build. Probably going to run Schwalbe Pro One's in 25mm with them. If I can find a pair of Roval 64's or Easton EC90 55's for a good price I'll have to reconsider. The price for the Venn's from DCR-wheels seems really competitive.
