The hubs that Var wheels use have the XDR option available.

The main improvement versus the hubs used before is that we now use Enduro bearings with full environmental sealing.

We have a long term own use set of Venn Var 77 TCC that was used for 6000 km through the UK winter and now into summer and the bearings are still functioning well.

Are you the only ones manufacturing rims by parallel filament winding? The new DT Swiss 25th Anniversary rims sure look like they came out of the same process as your Var type rims…!

No we are not any more. I'm not sure if the DT rims are made using winding or UD spreading however.

Nevertheless they look nice. However speaking of lightweight disc brake wheels, we are working on something special with 380g 30mm deep, 28mm wide, and our standard 21mm internal width, disc brake rims.

We should come in at under 1300g with this wider and deeper wheelset.

Wouldn't that be kind of close to the VAR 35 ?
5mm lower
2mm external width narrower

But 40 to 50gr lighter for a rim , if weight target of 380gr +-10 gr is achieved

Weight for 45mm rim is the same between the rim and disc version
But different for the 507 wich is logical to me.

Can you specify correct weight for disc and rim brake ?

Yes it is close but the best weight that we can achieve with the Venn Var 35 TCD is 420g - great weight in fact and likely the lightest disc brake rim in the world of these dimensions (35mm x 30mm)

The Var 30 will be 380g, and narrower, thus more intended for the riders that want the lowest weight as they can save 80g in a wheelset.

Currently the Var 45 TCC and TCD are the same rim. Soon we will have a disc specific 45mm rim too so its weight will be lower.

The new Var 507 that just passed factory testing and is heading out to France for live testing will also be the same rim whether it has a visible brake track or not. The Var 507 TCC and TCD will be around 480g to start with.

I've had a rim failure on my Rev 507 discs.

Before I order the var replacements from Victor, Does anyone have a spare by any chance? Front or rear would be fine.

I think you better have newer rims from Venn/velocite directly
The ones laying around somewhere may present the sames issues as yours

It's hard to say... The wheels have been bulletproof and they seemed to hold pressure, so had it not been for the fact that I was not fond of the gp5000tl's I may not have noticed the cracks, or worse may have been the victim of a catastrophic failure had I not picked up on the damage.

My new Vittorias arrived and when installing them I noticed the cracks.

The front wheel is still perfect, they hold pressure well (I've always run tubeless setup) and I'm disappointed to have to give them up as I love the look.

Of anyone has one I'd love to hear from you!

Slightly OT but what didn't you like about the Conti's? I'm looking at those tyres for my new VAR45's and they seem to tick all the boxes with regards to weight, rolling resistance etc. Interested to hear your experience.

...and we have our final samples of the Venn 30 TCD rims.

There were some changes to specifications since my original post.

The weight is now 400g, but there is no rider weight limit and you can take them onto gravel. We felt that 20g per rim was a necessary compromise to achieve peace of mind for the rider, and us.

The rim is 30mm deep, 28mm wide externally and 21mm wide internally , or the same as our Var 507 besides the depth.
