Open mold wide profile carbon wheels

I am just checking many RIM options and I found this one:

They are from Deerobust... do you know the real factory? What about the quality? I tested their 270 extremely light 30mm tubular rims on CX and they worked fine.

Now I am working on a build with 38mm rim brake clincher for road and I think they are pretty good and they have a good weight: 390 grams!

Any other option on the same price range?

I'm thinking in buy a new set (I have only one set of wheels for my road bike), same seller, same hubs, but with 30mm carbon rims

The 30mm will be lighter, 1259gr claimed weight (+-5%... so I expect same difference as with my 38mm set... so real could be 1290gr) thinking in climbing days or periods and for have a standby wheelset.

What do you think about 30mm rims...will be better for clim or the same as 38mm?

This rims have 30mm height and 28mm outer wide, 18mm internal

Your 38mm rims are already light, I don’t think you will notice the weight saving of the 30mm rims. For a 70kg rider climbing on 6% grade at 280W, a weight saving of 1kg is like having 4W extra power. A weight saving of 100g is only 0.4W difference, not easy to feel.

I have 1600g 50mm wheels and also 1200g 24mm deep wheels, the difference is on the acceleration from stop to start. They feel faster, more nimble. On steady climbing I can’t say I can feel the 1W of weight saving. On steep descents I can definitely feel the extra speed from the aero of the deep wheels. Strava consistently shows the faster descending on the deep wheels too.

My 1200g wheels are hookless, but running 38mm tyres at 44psi, so no problem. I agree, if you want to use for road, and narrow tyres, stay hooked.

The "1150g" claim was very effective marketing. Weight came in closer to 1165g. With the 300g hubs, Sapim CX spokes and alloy nipples I'm guessing the rims weigh about 300g per, which is pretty good.... same as the Farsports Kaze 40mms.

Hi, I'm 65kg

Since you already have 38mm wheels, when there is wind, use those. If it is calm use the deep 55mm wheels and get the full aero benefit.
