I really wonder how this was determined...
Also, there are tires that are 10W RR faster than any tire officially rated for Hookless.

Not trying to get to dependent on the brand's own claims, a 53/58mm deep wheel, 23mm inner and 30mm outside at wheel sub-1400gr is really impressive. Regardless of the claims that saves X amount of watts.

Really expensive but really impressive.

Note: I don't see any tire manufacturers launching a new tire that is not hookless compatible. It's a way for wheels manufacturers to save weight and costs (thus price) so it's just reasonable to assume that it's the way all will go (let's see if this is not the way roval will re-enter the road tubeless wheel segment). Thus, no reasonable tire manufacturer will want to stay out of that market.

That's interesting:
Because when SRAM launched the 353, they explicitly stated that tires rated for a minimum pressure of more than 5bar (70PSI) are not compatible, which was their response to why the GP5000TL aren't compatible.

The CS is rated to a minimum of more than 5 bar so that would be News to me.

I guess these wheels have their place. Impressive from a technical POV.
Just not my cup of joe.

what is so impressive ? the price ?
Interestingly, that improvement is despite the wheels actually being more than 3 W slower when viewed purely in terms of aerodynamic efficiency when tested with the same 25 mm (printed width) tires; all of the overall speed gains are coming from rolling resistance and weight improvements.
i can build a 1400gm with similiar / better aero from chinese rims + carbon ti hubs. easy.

Okay, the 858 only got a new hub. Not upset.
The other wheels or of no interest to me.
Sub 1400g for the ZIPP 454 is impressive, but slower with the narrow tire choice.
New 454 has 10w saving @ 40kph compared to MY20 454, both on 25c.

New 404 has 4w saving @ 40kph compared to MY20 404, both on 25c.
What is the saving of MY20 404/454 against older wheels? It will be very interesting to see more than 10W savings against 5 YO models. If every version is 5-10W faster, it must be 15-30W faster than a few versions back then.

Zipp's list of approved tires is just a list of tires that manufacturers have submitted themselves. Zipp does not actually restrict the use of any tubeless tire on its hookless rims...though if a manufacturer (like Conti or Challenge) explicitly says not to use their tires on hookless rims, then you should probably defer to that recommendation.

AFAIK, ETRTO doesn't allow any tire to be listed "compatible with hookless" that has a recommended tire pressure of more than 5bar (70PSI). GP5000TL, Schwalbe Pro One TL and Vittoria Corsa Speed TLR (all 25c) even have a minimum recommend pressure of over 5bar.

I really don't believe these (or any wheels) save 10W on RR at just 40kph, where most tires roll at sub 30W for a system.
Would really need to be terrible roads, with much higher RR, to make a 10W saving realistic.

Can anyone tell me the measured width of a 28mm tire on the 25mm internal from the 303 Firecrest? Thanks a lot!

At 30.15mm I guess it pretty much puts it flush with the rim which is what Zipp claims to be trying to achieve. Thanks!
