Hi to all, thanks for the compliments for the wheel project!

It would be less problematic and even lighter if we decide to go tubular. Have to make a few decisions in which direction to go, for now we decided disc brake and clincher, as it is "the most popular" option. But I'm considering to make them also tubular - less problematic production, lighter wheelset etc., we'll see!

After a few years, finally build this bike together:

3.986g complete bike as on photo.

Special project finished after almost 3 years. Custom made frameset/saddle, handlebar/stem combo and a lot of tuning by our Berk Composites team member Aleš Arnež. The bike was in use already in the past years, but now it is finally <4kg

Now that's proper  beautiful tuning on the shifters especially.

No Aerolite pedals though? They would have saved 50g or so, even from tuned speedplays.

Any Pro teams interested in these wheels? Could see somebody pulling a Team Ineos with their Lightweights for mountain stages.

Here it is
Mention that the "frame" weight is actually for the frame with integrated seatpost and saddle!

Handlebar is our own custom made stem/handlebar combo.
Topcap was also made in-house, the spacer was 3D printed

Ciamillo brakes were tuned (different spring and screws)

Fron derailleur tuned - carbon cage. The same goes for the rear derailleur.

Hi.

Since this is my bike, I can write a few things about it.

It has started as sub 5kg afterwork project with Jure. There are two photos before this stage in catch all, show us your sub-6kg builds.

Parts description:

Fork is THM Scapula F, expander was shortened to 3,9g.

Headset is mix of FSA Orbit and FSA SL bearings.

A friend of mine printed me a headset. 10mm

Shifters drilled and a custom carbon clamp with ti bolts. 9g if I remember correctly.

Inhouse Berk stem/bar combo with endcaps integrated.

I made topcap. I still need to change Ti bolt for Alu.

Tesa Bartape.

Wheelset: Reynolds KOM on Tune MIG MAG hubs, not sure about spokes.

Tufo elite jet sub 160 tubulars.

Seqlite 11-26 alu cassette.

Not sure about the cables, they are black.

Powercordz, uncut 15g.

THM Clavicula Classic 110 bcd, sanded and painted matte.

Not sure about the screws, alu.

Fibre-Lyte 50/36.

THM Pf BB30 tuned

Sram red 22, alu bolts, rear Fibre-Lyte cage, carbon pulleys.

Tiso Altore, carbon front and back plate, steel bolts, waiting for black alu.

I made fd hanger.

Rd hanger, not sure what to say about it. Stock

Bottle cage Fabric cageless with extralite bolts.

Ciamillo gravitas with corima cork pads.

Speedplay x1 pedals with full ti.

J&L anti theft quick release, no springs.

Pyc hain, i don't know number of links, but lighter than kmc SL11

Air and glue.

I hope I didn't forget about something. Otherwise please ask.

How does it ride?

My guess is that it rides super stiff ... High mod carbon+integrated cockpit and saddle-post+ skinny tires will make it a bumpy ride.

But who cares about confort, extreme ww is awesome

fantastic bike.
as i understand it, it even could be 100-120 gr. lighter with an ax-lightnes- or 77composites-wheelset

How do you find the tesa tape? Decently comfortable or is it a real quality of life compromise?

Hi,
thanks to all and sorry for my late answer!

It depends - if you prefer to use the hoods mainly then it is no problem, but it is much thinner and I guess it depends from each rider, it for sure isn't as comfortable as ordinary bar tape, but it provides a good grip.

On the photo there is Ales, my great friend and employee, who uses that bike daily and he started that project.

Sure, it could still be lighter! The frame only (without the ISP and saddle combo) could weight only around 500g, I should try to make a sub 500g frame, but more or less just for fun and for my own use, will see...seems that the situation we all know in Europe will bring us quite some changes - it will leave quite an impact on the industry, also in the industry we work in...so we'll see what will happen in the future, just stay safe for now and I'll sure write more here ;-)

Hello Berk/TARE

most bodacious bicycle.
Two questions or mibbes three
how was the thm pf30 bb tuned? got one myslef but at >100g wasn't going to use it, as bike is getting closer to the magical 4000g. was the internal threaded sleeve cut leaving only the cups to press in?
also does berk take orders for saddle/seatpost one pieces? and if so what would be the lightest combo that could be fabricated? diam of post 25.4mm, length needed 28cm and the lightest option of seat as my arse fits all saddle shapes.

thanks for any response and may the funk be with you

Hi, sorry for my late answer :)

Yes we cut away most of the metal part, only the cups were used for the BB, and just pressed in like a standard press-fit bearing. The fit might not be perfect (the BB from THM is slightly tapered) so we had to use some loctide/glue, to keep it in place.

Sure it can be done, it would weight around 125g, if that would be interesting please just drop me an email, thanks!
