Colnago EPS MTBK
Moderators: MrCurrieinahurry, maxim809, Moderator Team
First ride this morning.
Spec:
Colnago EPS MTBK 52cm traditional geo.
DA 7900
Gen II Lightweights/Vittoria Corsa CX tubs/Tune skewers
3T Team ARX stem/3T Pro Rotundo bars (waiting order for CF Team Rotundos...)
Look Keo 2 Max Carbons
Old Spesh Toupe 130 and Spesh Ribcage bottle cages.
Little touches: Carbon/Ti top cap, pimpy red alu bottle cage screws.
Weight: Errr..I'm guessing about 6.7kg with Lightweights (mine are pretty old) and 6.9 with 7850 24CL training wheels.
Brief ride report: The minute I sat down on it, there was that 'ahhhh' moment you get from a top spec Colnago. The fit is perfect, and it just seems to ride itself. It's as shock absorbing as I remember the C40 and 50 were, but it's significantly lighter and stiffer. Incidentally, Look seem to have sorted the bearings on the Keo 2 Max, as these new ones were perfect. 3T stuff is nice - slightly stiffer than Deda combos I'm used to. Also, this was my first ride on 7900. Great gruppo, but rear der upshift is a bit too vague.
Things people will pick up on: Dura Ace on a Colnago: uh huh, never heard that one before. Bottle cages: yeah, they're cheap, but these work well for me - not too heavy, don't fall to pieces.
Bottom line is that there's no bike in the world I'd rather own.

Always used to ride traditional geo ones, so...
PS Thanks to Danielson if he's still on WW for doing such a great job with the build.

You should paint the stripe on the 3T stem matte black to match. It would then be complete.

Certainly worth the wait mate, very nice!
I will agree about the stem...not that it's bad or anything. But if you had a spare arvo and were bored then I think it would be worth doing.

Looks DELICIOUS Rico! How is the matte finish? Though I eventually went w/ the VIP, the MTBK EPS was also a high contender....the only thing that worried me was how the matte finish would fare against scratches from the elemets.

It was a concern to me too. However, there is a finish on there - it's just a matte one instead of the clearcoat we're used to. I gave it a pretty good thrashing on some bad UK roads in some bad UK weather yesterday. Cleaned off the road slop/mud and there's not a mark on the frame.
I'll see how it goes. If it goes badly I'll report back here and get it clearcoated...
